Some Think the Answer is Another Civil War. Think Twice Six Million Times.

I’ve hidden this video, The Killing Rooms Of Mosul Are Filled With Bodies And Mystery, after the jump. It is an EXTREMELY graphic video made in the aftermath of the occupation and eradication of ISIS in Mosul. It pulls no punches in imagery. You have been warned.

But of course scenes this horrible couldn’t happen here. Could they?

The number of soldiers who died between 1861 and 1865, generally estimated at 620,000, is approximately equal to the total of American fatalities in the Revolutionary War, the War of 1812, the Mexican War, the Spanish American War, World War I, World War II, and the Korean War, combined. The Civil War’s rate of death, its incidence in comparison with the size of the American population, was six times that of World War II. A similar rate, about two percent, in the United States today would mean six million fatalities. Death and Dying–Civil War Era

So let’s keep this current argument thoughtful and polite, right? Right.

Alert the Authorities!

Everywhere I’ve been, there have always been a few like Nurse Husseini keeping civilization alive. They are 1,000 times more valuable than politicians and celebrities but 1,000 times less well known.

The problem is that two thoughtful reasonable people or groups can easily prevent violence to solve their problems. But one thoughtful reasonable person or group cannot prevent violence if the other person or group is neither reasonable or willing to compromise. In other words the decision will be made by the lowest common denominator and not by those who wish to prevent violence.

    Four words.

    Cold Harbor. Twenty minutes.

The 1860 census put the population of the US at 31 million, including four million slaves. Half of those 27 million were males, half or less of those were fighting age. 620,000 dead of eight million is almost eight percent. Add the wounded. A careful contemporary examination of the census before and after the was suggested that the number of men unaccounted for totaled 850,000. There were several rural counties in Georgia and the Carolinas that claimed three men of marriageable age left alive.

A more recent estimate puts the combat deaths at 750,000 and civilian deaths at over 2,000,000, almost all in the South and almost all due to starvation and disease. That civilian total includes about 1,000,000 slaves.

No, it is far better to truckle and crawl so that nobody gets hurt. White people are really, really good at crawling these days. They have raised it to an art form. So, no problem!

What James Wilson said – 620,000 is a very low-ball guesstimate at combat deaths only. Civil wars always incur many more “non-combat” deaths due to disease and destruction on the infrastructure. All American foreign wars combined probably don’t add up to the American death toll of the Civil War.

You are assuming this IS NOT what the extreme Left wants.

That’s a bad assumption. Tell them to think of the dead as Republicans, Christians, conservatives, and this becomes their party movie.

  • Jack May 9, 2018, 2:49 PM

Well said, EndOfPatience. But the Left knows not what it lusts for and should push come to shove that lust will end.

  • ghostsniper May 10, 2018, 4:39 AM

    What Jack said, again.
The american communists are ignorant of everything else, why wouldn’t they be ignorant of the results of war? Remember, they are children – delicate sandwich bags slammed with sensitive nerve endings with IQ’s in the bottom tier. But, they are also adult. So they will learn, when forced to. But at that point the learning may come at the point of a bayonet to the face, and it will be too late.

They truly cannot see farther then 3″ beyond their eyeballs, nor do they have any hindsight.
Probably 100% useless, or maybe as draft animals.

I would like to mention a couple of points not covered in this article.
First, a modern civil war, should it occur, would be nothing like the war between the states. Then, the forces were segregated, north and south, free and slave, separate and distinct. The war fought was much like a conventional war. Return to a single country was possible
Now, there is no such separation. Progressive and conservative live in uneasy proximity. Should war break out it would most resemble the war between Serbia and Kosovo, a guerrilla war with snipers and mass graves. There would be no coming back from that. The USA would be permanently divided, and I doubt representative democracy could survive in either camp. The war could last for generations.
Second, I am old enough that as a southern child I was able to listen to people who had lived through the civil war and subsequent reconstruction. Their message was abundantly clear: do not do this. I respect their words.
    This must not happen.

It become very obvious how badly the left needs to find any way to restrict gun ownership to the point of disarmament, no?
