On Hate from the American Left and Hating the American Left

In every cry of every Man,
In every Infants cry of fear,
In every voice: in every ban,
The mind-forg’d manacles I hear

London by William Blake

Watching the obscene sputum drip from the lips of that ancient has-been Robert DeNiro at the Tony Awards sparked my  smoldering anger with so-called “Americans.” Although this grizzled and deformed dwarf basked in the applause of his fellow political sociopaths for his “edgy” obscenities, he filled me with revulsion. In another episode of political kabuki that infests these awards, this professional pretender “acted” the part of all the demented SocialistDemocrats who could not, and now will not, accept the choice of the American people in a free and fair election.

Instead, DeNiro and his fellow travelers continue, like spoiled and vengeful children, their ceaseless and repulsive exhibition of spite; they continue in their ever-increasing flow of bile; they continue, like the uncontrollable volcanoes of Hawaii, to ooze their white-hot hate. This ceaseless and now psychopathic hate does not stop at threatening President Trump but is directed, with the sputum-flecked fury of a shrinking cadre of history’s poorest losers, at all who would, in the slightest manner, support the President and his real accomplishments.

All decent Americans, regardless of political leanings, recognize that the Left’s tsunami of Trump derangement should have long ago abated. Every day these vile and squalid attacks persist more and more decent Americans desert this dwindling and hellish choir and return to life. They may not announce this change of heart to their friends and families. They do so out of fear of being cast into the role of local pariah and so their silence deepens. But silence, they soon find, does not avail them.

Many discover that friends, family, and co-workers have been commanded to by their masters to view silence as assent. They find that the Left increasingly requires the enthusiastic support of their Two-Minute Trump Hate sessions. They find that if they do not “go along” they will not “get along.” This is underscored by the constant reports of others who have lost their livelihoods and their access to the various “Dark America” controlled social media platforms. They rightly fear this sort of techno-shunning and job-killing powers of the propaganda arms of “Dark America.”

And why shouldn’t they since the propaganda from the puppet masters’ dark satanic mills spew forth from all the mass media outlets. This anti-American, democracy-destroying, propaganda suffuses the television from programs to commercials. It simmers, seethes, and gibbers in the new witch hunters of Facebook and the perverted leaders of Twitter and their “hate speech” police. In these pretend realities, like those of the stage on which DeNiro spewed his bile or in a host of films released into knowing losses but because they carry the Left’s “lessons,” their utopian world carries on with none of the supporters facing the least of any consequences. Indeed they are, like DeNiro, rewarded like the trained seals they are with the fat if rotten fish of fortune and fame for spouting the Party Line.

I can envision, in my more secret mind, many “consequences” for these vile “Americans,” but these visions are so violent and rabid the closest friends to which I confide they find them too extreme, and endeavor to talk me down from them. The latest and somewhat acceptable vision involves wood-chippers and compost piles such as that seen once in the Longmire television series. But even that relatively tame “consequence” suffuses me in too much hate.

And so I find myself praying, not for the redemption of these vile Americans, but to be released from the anger and hate that they stir within me. In such prayers, it comes to me that reacting in anger and hate is, to a fine degree, exactly what the puppet-masters of clapped-out souls like DeNiro want to happen. They want the hate to grow. They want the degradation of the population to become deeper. The degraded Left in America, having lost their majority and now shrinking to a smaller minority daily, wants what the Left always wants of a decent society; it wants it to become worse. As the old Bolshevik saying goes, “The worse the better.”

The Left, when it feels its grip on a culture loosen, always seeks to promote widespread unhappiness and violence. In our current state, they cannot do this through direct political means so they seek to do it through the one area that they still control –absent many wood chipper rides pour encourager les autres — the media and the culture. Hence the unceasing flow of septic thoughts and programs and presentations.

And so, since I cannot live on a constant diet of hate, I ask along with a few hundred million other Americans, another old Bolshevik question, “What Is To Be Done?”

To ask this question is to shake the oracular 8-ball and constantly come up with the answer, “Reply hazy try again.”

To many of my fellow fed-up Americans the answer is “Civil war real soon.” I admit I like to entertain this answer in my hate-filled fantasies and can spin scenarios with the best of them. But then I think of the reality of the civil war in “Syria” and all my fantasies fade as all such terrible fantasies should. I can, of course, imagine a number of incidents that would trigger such an event but I shall, for now at least, let those fantasies fade as well.

In truth, looking at the kind of evil America represented — today by the toothless DeNiro and tomorrow by some other puppet locked in his mind-forged manacles —  I know we have not yet finished with the first Civil War and do not need to conjure another. I find, in my calmer state, that I want this country to be at the state it was, the state that Lincoln pleaded for in his first Inaugural address.

And yes I know, since we have not yet finished the first Civil War, that many here and elsewhere view Lincoln as a tyrant of the first water. Still, the prayer given on March 4, 1861  is one that might yet serve and protect us now. If we can hear it and if we can heed it.

Today I pray that all decent Americans can hear and heed Lincoln’s prayer and that it does not become like the sad and ironic banner flapping over a dead world in the old movie, On The Beach. That banner says, above a pile of corpses, “There is still time brother.”

LINCOLN: March 4, 1861

One section of our country believes slavery [to the state]is right, and ought to be extended, while the other believes it is wrong, and ought not to be extended. This is the only substantial dispute. …

Physically speaking, we cannot separate. We cannot, remove our respective sections from each other, nor build an impassable wall between them. A husband and wife may be divorced, and go out of the presence, and beyond the reach of each other; but the different parts of our country cannot do this. They cannot but remain face to face; and intercourse, either amicable or hostile, must continue between them, Is it possible then to make that intercourse more advantageous or more satisfactory, after separation than before? Can aliens make treaties easier than friends can make laws? Can treaties be more faithfully enforced between aliens, than laws can among friends? Suppose you go to war, you cannot fight always; and when, after much loss on both sides, and no gain on either, you cease fighting, the identical old questions, as to terms of intercourse, are again upon you.

This country, with its institutions, belongs to the people who inhabit it. Whenever they shall grow weary of the existing government, they can exercise their constitutional right of amending it, or their revolutionary right to dismember, or overthrow it. I can not be ignorant of the fact that many worthy, and patriotic citizens are desirous of having the national constitution amended. While I make no recommendation of amendments, I fully recognize the rightful authority of the people over the whole subject, to be exercised in either of the modes prescribed in the instrument itself; and I should, under existing circumstances, favor, rather than oppose, a fair opportunity being afforded the people to act upon it….

The Chief Magistrate derives all his authority from the people, and they have conferred none upon him to fix terms for the separation of the States. The people themselves can do this also if they choose; but the executive, as such, has nothing to do with it. His duty is to administer the present government, as it came to his hands, and to transmit it, unimpaired by him, to his successor.

Why should there not be a patient confidence in the ultimate justice of the people? Is there any better, or equal hope, in the world? In our present differences, is either party without faith of being in the right? If the Almighty Ruler of nations, with his eternal truth and justice, be on your side of the North, or on yours of the South, that truth, and that justice, will surely prevail, by the judgment of this great tribunal, the American people.

My countrymen, one and all, think calmly and well, upon this whole subject. Nothing valuable can be lost by taking time. If there be an object to hurry any of you, in hot haste, to a step which you would never take deliberately, that object will be frustrated by taking time; but no good object can be frustrated by it. Such of you as are now dissatisfied, still have the old Constitution unimpaired, and, on the sensitive point, the laws of your own framing under it; while the new administration will have no immediate power, if it would, to change either. If it were admitted that you who are dissatisfied, hold the right side in the dispute, there still is no single good reason for precipitate action. Intelligence, patriotism, Christianity, and a firm reliance on Him, who has never yet forsaken this favored land, are still competent to adjust, in the best way, all our present difficulty.

In your hands, my dissatisfied fellow countrymen, and not in mine, is the momentous issue of civil war. The government will not assail you. You can have no conflict, without being yourselves the aggressors. You have no oath registered in Heaven to destroy the government, while I shall have the most solemn one to “preserve, protect and defend” it.

I am loath to close. We are not enemies, but friends. We must not be enemies. Though passion may have strained, it must not break our bonds of affection. The mystic chords of memory, stretching from every battle-field, and patriot grave, to every living heart and hearthstone, all over this broad land, will yet swell the chorus of the Union, when again touched, as surely they will be, by the better angels of our nature.

The constant moaning from the Trump derangement crowd has become like the babble of the sidewalk philosophers you encounter stalking the sidewalks of any big city – just part of the background noise. I sense the bulk of the country nowadays just ignores it and goes about their business.

  • Bill in Tennessee June 11, 2018, 9:40 AM

I am beginning to think that there is nothing we can do to prevent a coming war in some form in this country. “The Fourth Turning” predicts a large war either this or early next decade. The Left cannot be reasoned with. Or compromised with. Or negotiated with. They hate us far more than we could ever hate them. I believe they thirst for death as much as they hunger for total control and socialism. We are at an impasse. Normal Americans will not, and cannot, accept their vision for our country. So… what we rightfully fear, a civil war of the Syrian variety, may be inevitable.

    Who’s deniro?

Way back when I was first starting my own business I worked all the time and never turned anything away everything else was in 2nd place. While hovering over my drawing board late in the night when the phone no longer rang and I could finally get some stuff done I had talk radio in the background or inspirational tapes playing. You know, all the regular stuff in similar circumstances listen to, Carnegie, Napolean Hill, Clement Stone, etc. I don’t remember which one said it but the explanation was that people that have achieved their wealth through little or no effort have a built-in guilt complex at a subconscious level and most are not even aware of it due to the arrogancy that accompanies easily attained wealth. They feel guilty that they are so rich.

Innately they know they ain’t all that and only have what they do due to the luck of the draw.
When they encounter people that actually do something to have what they do, the deniro’s of the world get insanely spiteful. Failure hates success. This brings out the ugliest of human traits that lie in wait in all of us. We all have the potential to be hateful but most of us learn to keep it in check because we ain’t arrogant dickheads. Easily attained over abundance and the baggage it drags along is a handicap that infects only those of the lowest intellect incapable of reflection and self evaluation. If they had a higher intelligence they would also know the value of self reflection and continuously correct themselves rather than go out in public and reveal that handicap to all.

I have not seen nor read the deniro rant and won’t for he is well below my radar sweep and I won’t soil myself by his exposure. As far as film goes, he’s never been very relevant and at best is nothing more than a 3rd rate pretender with the appearance of a sloppy drunkard, and no, “I’m not looking at you”, dickhead.

  • Bill in Tennessee June 11, 2018, 9:58 AM

I don’t think we can avoid a civil war, it’s been coming on for decades now, and the Left will not be reasoned with. As they try to impose their will and agenda on us, we must resist, even if it leads to war.

Trump has broken DeNiro beyond repair.

His professional work for the last 20 years is garbage. From “Godfather ll” and “Taxi Driver” to one B-movie box office flop after another. It’s been downhill for a long time. No wonder he’s a bitter old dude clinging to some sort of significance.

My God, the raw courage it took to utter that foul expletive in a B’way theatre to a roomful of NYC acting freaks and their showbiz masters.

Where do we get such men?

  • rabbit tobacco June 11, 2018, 10:47 AM

He knew not what to say, so he cursed.

  • ghostsniper June 11, 2018, 11:55 AM

OK, I went and looked at it.
    rabbit’s right.
He reverted into a child, a neglected one.
“Fuck Trump!, then threw his fisted arms up in the air.
Wow dood, that’s oscar material right there.
Remember them 2 mean kids in “The Christmas Story”?
The bigger one that Ralphie tore into.
    And his smaller sidekick.
    Neglected street urchins.
deniro looked like the little one, standing there all puffed up, fists in the air, incapable of anything on an adult level. It’s only proper that he introduce the most over inflated questionable musician in the late 20th century. 2 has beens that never were

If deniro said that to Trump in person Trump would clothesline his ass like he did that rassler back when.

  • Rob De Witt June 11, 2018, 11:58 AM

I don’t have nightmares – and it would be a nightmare – about another Civil War in this country anymore. The children, I think, increasingly realize that not only did they lose the election, but that the 250-year-old socialist experiment has publicly failed, and it’s coming to its inevitable end. What we’re witnessing is a series of out-of-control tantrums as it sinks in that holding their breath and turning blue isn’t going to result in more ice cream.

The depth of this society-wide delusion is evidencing itself wherever you look. Check out (former) echo chambers like SFGate.com to see how many normal people give the lefties shit about stories like the resurgence of Poliomyelitis in the Socialist paradise of Venezuela. There’s no longer a safe place for the angry kiddies to share their annoyance with their parents, simply because some far-thinking normal person (me, as it happens) went into conservative comment streams like HotAir and Gateway Pundit ten years ago and invited the assembled to sign on to SFGate and a few others and do battle. Within a week or two the proto-Marxists using the comment streams as fora for Leftist propaganda were complaining that it just wasn’t safe anymore since these “outsiders” suddenly had the temerity to challenge their Political Correctness. Tehee.

Best of all is the evidence of their decompensation; the news has been filled the last couple of weeks with weeping and wailing about two of their Cultural Heroes, a purse maker and a television cook, having apparently realized the transparency and emptiness of their meaningless existence and taking the easy way out. As a result, the latest story is about the suicide helplines being flooded with Social Marxists in deep despair – many of them, I have absolutely no doubt, among the self-congratulatory throng applauding that former actor.

So be of good cheer. They’re busily taking themselves off the count, just to make their point.

    Bye.

  • Ed Wallis June 11, 2018, 12:42 PM

I don’t think it will come to a “Civil War” if there are a number of random hit-jobs on sorted and sundry Leftists. REMEMBER: IT’S ONLY ‘CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE’ in their own lexicon. Only so will the cowardly-tyrant-wannabes learn their lesson.

  • H. Jones June 11, 2018, 12:44 PM

American Digest does a great job that I review each and every day. Yet, occasionally you venture into history that has been glorified concerning the gentleman that was responsible for the deaths of 700,000+ black and white American soldiers and civilians. Keep up the good work and I can forgive an occasional slip.

  • Scullman June 11, 2018, 12:53 PM

    WTF?
Are you talking about Abraham Lincoln, the man who saved the Union?
    Are you f@cking kidding?
What planet are you visiting from?

It just seems sad to me, that De Niro has thrown away his entire body of work because he’s stuck in far-left groupthink and suffering from TDS.

Not long ago I re-watched De Niro in “Ronin,” which is still one of the absolutely best action films of all time. He was magnificent in his role, as he was in “Taxi Driver,” “Godfather Pt. II,” “Raging Bull,” “Goodfellas” and many more. Now I won’t be able to enjoy his films, this childish tantrum will always overshadow the great work he’s done in the past.

In much the same way, I don’t enjoy Schwartzenegger films any more either; it’s hard to see the brave, indomitable, fearless warrior of Conan when he has been revealed as a pussywhipped weakling who seduced his immigrant maid just because he could (and who was also a weakling of a Governor, when he’d been elected for his perceived strength.)

Schwartzenegger’s fans got screwed much more than that maid did, and now De Niro has screwed over his fans as well. It’s such a tragedy that these rich, famous actors- who have talent but no morals- have to open their mouths and reveal the snake-pit of their thoughts!

  • pbird June 11, 2018, 1:12 PM

Thoughts from the Drudge this week.

Trump more popular than Reagan or Obama at this point in presidency. DeNiro preaches to an ever shrinking choir.

Clinton says that the norms for what you can do to people against their will have changed. Rape wise, I guess. Libs are useless trash, there is no doubt of that.

Thank you for this. Sometimes the only way I can find any peace is to remind myself that Western Civilization is going into a die-back. We’ve been fortunate. We were there to experience the apex. I doubt any of us here will live to see it all bottom out. At this point I just hope it all hangs together until I’m safely gone. I see toddlers in strollers thumbling away at Iphones. The fix is in.

Clue: Things aren’t always like what they told you, so it’s up to you to find the truth, or take the lazy route they expect of you.

The american communists suffer from stunted maturation that apparently lasts at least well into their 70’s. They want others to provide for them in all ways. Waaaaaaaaaah.

But your brain is just so crystal ‘effing clear on the Civil War, eh Ghostsniper?
‘Cause a half slave, half free America was just no big ‘effing deal for a genius like you.

    Right. Got it.

Do yourself a favor. Go down to the Lincoln Memorial and sit your ass down in front of him for a while, and contemplate the fact that you couldn’t carry his lunch, never mind thanking him for saving the country you take for granted and obviously know so little about.

  • ghostsniper June 11, 2018, 7:41 PM

    So the nitwit doubles down.
Child, I was born in Gettysburg and “knew” more about Lincoln by the age of 10 than you ever will.
But it wasn’t until some 30 years later that I learned the true, and it wasn’t the bullshit I was spoonfed in school or in the available books in the libraries.

The “War of Northern Aggression” was renamed to the Civil War to help train malleable brains like yours, and mine when I was but a child.

Try a few of Lincolns own words on for size from the book, “Collected Works of Abraham Lincoln”:

“Free them [black slaves] and make them politically and socially our equal? My own feelings will not admit of this . . . . We can not then make them equals.” (CW, 2, 256). “There is a natural disgust in the minds of nearly all white people, to the idea of an indiscriminate amalgamation of the white and black races.” (CW, 2, 405). “What I would most desire would be the separation of the white and black races.” (CW, 2, 521). “I have no purpose to introduce political and social equality between the white and black races . . . . I, as well as Judge [Stephen] Douglas, am in favor of the race to which I belong, having the superior position.” (CW, 2, 16).

“I am not, nor ever have been in favor of bringing about in any way the social and political equality of the white and black races . . . . I am not nor ever have been in favor of making voters or jurors of negroes, nor of qualifying them to hold office, nor to intermarry with white people.” (CW, 3, 145-146). “I will to the very last stand by the law of this state [i.e., Illinois], which forbids the marrying of white people with Negroes.” (CW, 3, 146). “Senator Douglas remarked . . . that . . . this government was made for the white people and not for Negroes. Why, in point of fact, I think so too.” (CW, 2, 281).
As proven in the book, by Phillip Magness and Sebastian Page (University of Missouri Press), Lincoln plotted and schemed to deport all black people out of the country – so-called “colonization” – until his dying day. He even had his secretary of state, William Seward, hard at work figuring out how many ships it would take, and negotiating with foreign governments about land purchases where the former American black people could be dumped. “I have said that the separation of the races is the only perfect preventive of amalgamation,” he declared, and “such separation . . . must be affected by colonization.” (CW, 2, 409). “Let us be brought to believe it is morally right, and . . . favorable to . . . our interest, to transfer the African to his native clime [i.e., Africa], he said (CW, 2, 409). “The place I am thinking about having for a colony is in Central America. It is nearer to us than Liberia.” (CW, 5, 373-374).

Lincoln supported Southern slavery in his first inaugural address, promising to support its explicit enshrinement in the Constitution via the Corwin Amendment, which had just passed the House and Senate, thanks to the efforts of William Seward, working on Lincoln’s instruction. He opposed only the extension of slavery into the Territories, but only so that they could remain the domain of “free white people.” He very strongly supported the Fugitive Slave Act that compelled Northerners to round up runaway slaves and return them to their owners, and enforced it during his presidency. He championed the Illinois Black Codes, and supported the Illinois constitution’s prohibition of black people migrating into his state. He never defended a runaway slave in court, but he did defend a slave owner in court.

At this point you can take the red pill and live the remainder of your life unraveling the lies this rotten assed gov’t has programmed you with or continue with the blue pill of fairy tales, unicorns and rainbow colored puppies. Are you a boy or are you a gurl?

Scullman, cool it. Ghost has half a point, and name-calling doesn’t win you any sympathy.

Ghost, I’m not unsympathetic, but I think you do only have half a point. Lincoln was no saint, but the CSA was a monster that needed to be put down. Yes, the United States came out of the war damaged in some profound way — before the war, “United States” was a plural noun, and after the war it became a singular noun, with all that implies about how power is apportioned in this country. As Gale Norton (I think it was she) remarked 25 or 30 years ago, “the states lost too much after 1865”. But human slavery was a great evil, and the CSA brought ruin on themselves by making war on the USA when they didn’t need to.

In any case, I’m not sure the (supposedly idyllic) status quo ante 1861 could have persisted much longer. The rest of the world was getting more centralized, and there’s a certain raw power that comes from centralization, at least in certain times and places, and I think the world as it was around 1900 was one of those times. (It’s less so, now, what with the de-centralization of power made possible by widespread computing power.)

I love the short fiction of Harry Turtledove — he writes entertaining stories, and he’s a master of “alternative history”, or “worlds of if”. I haven’t read much of his longer fiction — about the only novel of his that I’ve read is “Guns of the South”, in which time-travelers from 2014 South Africa (die-hard Afrikaaners who utterly despise blacks) appear in the CSA in early 1864 (which is as far back as their time-machine will take them), and these Afrikaaners proceed to provide AK-47s to Lee’s army. Not many such rifles are available, but the Afrikaaners and some CSA auxiliaries are enough to turn the tide of the war, and induce Great Britain to recognize the South, ending the war. (And that’s just in the first quarter or fifth of the book. The remainder of the book explores the likely consequences of a Southern victory.)

I enjoyed the book quite a bit — it’s still on my bookshelves somewhere. I’ll have to pick it up and read it again sometime.

Turtledove also has another Civil War-related series of books (I can’t remember the name they go under), but in that series, he imagines the South winning the war in late 1862. In the story’s universe, Lee’s Special Order #191 is NOT lost by the courier on the eve of the battle at Antietam, and so never falls into Union hands, and Lee wipes out the Union Army at Antietam, effectively ending the war.

With the US split into two halves after 1862, with each half glaring at each other, the rump US and the new CSA become closely allied with European powers, if not actually pawns. The USA becomes allied with Imperial Germany by 1900, and the CSA falls into the orbit of Great Britain, France and Imperial Russia. Without a unified US to counterbalance European dreams of worldwide empire, the world becomes a dark place. North America is no exception — imagine the devastation of northern France in World War I being visited upon the border between the USA and CSA.

And the 1940s aren’t any prettier.

I haven’t had the time to read much of any of the books in the series — I am too fond of reading about amateur (or “ham”) radio in the 1930s to spend much time on science fiction anymore — and so I’ve read only fragments of the series.

Turtledove may well paint a picture that is too dark — reality has a way of taking some weird twists and turns, and Turtledove’s hypothetical nightmare world may never have come to pass. Who can know? But still, I’m glad the US after 1865 was in one piece — I think it saved us (and maybe the rest of the world, too) from being in thrall to the various European powers for any great length of time.

My two cents’ worth, as usual.

    Gerard,
    Great Article, thank you.

    Scullman,
ghostsniper thinks he is so daring to go against received opinion about the Civil War. He is really just a fool. Yes, Lincoln was a man of his time and said non-PC things about race, etc. That is your argument? Ghosty misses the main point that Lincoln transcended his time (and his own opinions) by stopping slavery once and for all in the USA. Read the minutes of the Mississippi State Legislature from the year 1893. The elected leaders of the state drone on and on about this and that. These guys were up to their eyeballs in the blood of Southern young men and they said not word one about stopping the war, stopping slavery. The leaders of the south had no intention of stopping slavery; they opted for war over change.

  • Scullman June 12, 2018, 3:36 AM

    Got it.

    A couple of things:
    1. Lincoln didn’t give a rats ass about blacks. His goal was to preserve the Union regardless of the path it might take. He was a politician… but at the end of the day he preserved the Union and extinguished slavery in these States more effectively than would otherwise have happened.
    2. The Northern aggression was in RESPONSE to Southern States shelling a Union Military post… absent that, the North did not initiate hostilities against Southern States.
    3. The question regarding the ability to leave the Union was not known prior to the ACW… we know the answer now and accept it… (Texas excepted 😉 )
    4. I think we’re headed for conflict both internal and external. We are going to end up in a shooting match with the Chinese before 2030. They keep telling everyone we’re their enemy and they will overtake us by force if necessary (and that’s what it will require). For some reason, the West doesn’t take them at their word any more than Continental Europe took Hitler at his. I think we’re going to lose that match barring the use of nukes. (In which case everyone is going to lose)
    5. That’s likely going to be a catalyst for an internal conflict. The path of which I don’t have any clue about.
    6. I think this could all be avoided by taking 100 prominent liberals out into the streets in front of their homes and putting a bullet in their brain pan. But laws are laws and in order to follow them, thousands or tens of thousands must die to prevent those 100 having their rights violated.

It’s a sad state of affairs. I don’t wish for conflict any more than Mr. VanderLuen… but I think it is inevitable because the left won’t give up trying to turn this wonderful nation into a third world shithole that they can be masters of… and us Normies don’t want to give up this wonderful thing we’ve got. The Left has normalized treason, hate, and division. It is a cancer on the body politic and the only way to prevent it from killing the entire host is to cut it out, cauterize the wound and take regular meds to prevent a reoccurrence. We can either assassinate the left’s leadership now… or kill a large number of citizens later to achieve the same result.

We all know what’s going to happen…we’ve seen this movie before and we all know how it ends. I just hope the next guy that runs the coming conflict is another George Washington, but I don’t think we will get so lucky.

    So the nitwit doubles down.

And triples. And quadruples. Note the similarity of its appeals too. All fallacies; every one.

There may be no better example of the right’s merely ostensible conservatism – and trendy cults of personality, which by now even include Hollywood and the left – than this topic. And then there are the dozens and dozens like it.

“The Northern aggression was in RESPONSE….”
    ====================

The aggression had been going on for decades, which prompted the shelling.
I’m in agreement with most of the rest of your post.

The depth of the public indoctrination system on some people has been thorough, and probably complete. Look at this Scullman retard, it doesn’t even want to TRY to improve itself, so satisfied in it’s programming. There’s just no helping some people, thus, they will fall. Notice the word “cull” in there. 80mil to start with.

  • Ten June 12, 2018, 8:01 AM

The depth of the public indoctrination system on some people has been thorough, and probably complete.

Structural conservatism’s greatest threat is contemporary rightism.

  • Chris June 12, 2018, 8:06 AM

Look to claim that the aggression had been going on for decades is simply false. Yes had there been a large number of political actions that favored the North? Yes, and there were some that favored the South… this was a back and forth between to closely balanced belief systems that were geographically situated. But make no mistake the, the election of Lincoln did not in any way shape or form give license for the South to start seceding. Hell, they started the process before the man was sworn into office!

And shelling Ft. Sumter is what initiated the fighting… had the South kept cooler heads, they might have been able to stubbornly bull their way out of the Union by just refusing to comply with Federal demands peacefully.

Lincoln became the myth that he is now because of the timing of his death. Was he a tremendously smart guy? Absolutely without question. Did he hate the South? No. But he wanted the Union to stay whole… and the South would rather leave than compromise… add to the fact they attacked a military facility and in the end, they got what was coming to them…good and hard. My great great grandfather served as a first sergeant and later officer in a Wisconsin regiment at Vicksburg and on Shermans march. His letter home indicated no hatred for the South…just that he was doing what had to be done to keep the Country together. Pretty much what Lincolns writings show.

Lincoln was no God… neither is Trump. They were just simple men trying to do what they thought right. In my mind the only Truly incredible man that has held the office was Washington… not because of what he did, but because of what he didn’t do. He didn’t become the new King of the Americas… and he was offered that kind of power. Instead, the man served his nation and then went home to his farm. What sniveling poser among our political class would have the wisdom to do the same were he to be offered that same power?

I’m a bit of a contrarian here. I actually look forward to a civil war, because the left needs to be destroyed. Utterly vanquished. Stomped into the dust like the cockroaches that they are.

The biggest mistake that the majority of Americans made during the 1960s and 1970s was to buy into the lie that they need to be more “tolerant” and “accepting.” We’ve tolerated and accepted as much degeneracy as we can stomach, and seen the erosion of culture and western civilization in the process. It’s high time to push back, and with force.

The still remarkable election of Donald Trump has done one thing masterfully, and that is to unmask the left completely. No more can any leftist hide behind the facade of civility, because they’ve proven themselves time and again to be uncivil. No more can the left hide behind the mask of “rooting for the little man and the underdog”; when Bill Maher openly hopes for a recession, that’s not the battle cry of someone wishing the little guy a platform for achievement. And the left surely has no claim to intellectual superiority, when the bulk of their minions have degrees in Gender Studies or another inventive academic track but can’t balance a checkbook, have no grasp of history or the geography and have a reading comprehension level equal to that of an average 6th grader.

It’s time to choose sides, and ammo up (figuratively speaking now, but potentially literally if the left has its way). Purge leftists / Democrats from every office in the land – if you hate Republicans just as much, then vote in centrist or right-leaning libertarians and independents. Make the effort to shout down the left’s appointed talking heads, even though you’ll be called racist, sexist, etc. Let the takers know they will no longer be allowed to live on the public dime; question any government giveaway, including those “tax incentives” for certain businesses or industries (note: Springsteen and DeNiro are both beneficiaries of tax largesse. Springsteen declared his acreage to be “farmland” to get a tax break from the state of New Jersey, and DeNiro has taken many tax credits offered by states to the film industry. None of these measures benefit the other citizens of those states.) And demand that everyone be held to the same standards under the law. Leftist mouthpieces such as Cher have been tax evaders for years, aided and abetted by the DNC and the IRS upper management (read that Lois Lerner and company). Whenever the left screams “equal justice,” start with their leaders and mouthpieces.

Robbie..If you’re looking forward to Leftists getting whacked…well what’s stopping you? Don’t be such a pussy. Get out there and get the ball rolling. The Lefties are laughing at you right now. Are you going to take that? See that’s the problem…all hat and no cattle.

Real Conservatives don’t look forward to having to kill their neighbors. We will do it if we have to, but it’s not something that should engender impatience.

    Children,

Virginia reserved the right to withdraw from the “Union” in her ratification document when she ratified the new “Constitution”. As such, and since Virginia was accepted into the “Union” with that proviso, Virginia’s later withdrawal from the “Union” was perfectly legal. And since Her withdrawal was legal, Lincoln’s subsequent invasion of Virginia was Illegal. Any further discussion of the subject of the Civil Was must start from the basis of that indisputable fact.

    http://constitution.org/rc/rat_va_21.htm

We, the delegates of the people of Virginia, duly elected in pursuance of a recommendation from the General Assembly, and now met in Convention, having fully and freely investigated and discussed the proceeding of the federal Convention, and being prepared, as well as the most mature deliberation hath enabled us, to decide thereon, Do, in the name and in behalf of the people of Virginia, declare and make known, that the powers granted under the Constitution, being derived from the people of the United States, be resumed by them whensoever the same shall be perverted to their injury or oppression, and that every power, not granted thereby, remains with them, and at their will; that, therefore, no right, of any denomination, can be cancelled, abridged, restrained, or modified, by the Congress, by the Senate or House of Representatives, acting in any capacity, by the President, or any department or officer of the United States, except in those instances in which power is given by the Constitution for those purposes; and that, among other essential rights, the liberty of conscience and of the press cannot be cancelled, abridged, restrained, or modified, by any authority of the United States.

  • Ten June 12, 2018, 12:29 PM

Any further discussion of the subject of the Civil Was must start from the basis of that indisputable fact.

Federalism mattered. However, Lincoln also suspended habeas corpus and instituted martial law, whether which to do so or not. So much too for state’s rights.

    And today’s right? Hoorah.

As to the point of morality per slavery, if slavery is wrong then abortion and homelessness and poverty and private schooling and guns and not enough televisions are wrong too. Not literally, not directly, but variably and as far as federal ethics of that time are concerned thereafter, arbitrarily and absolutely.

Concerning morality, the problem is now that by now the right has co-opted nearly all of the left’s causes – except wicked veganism and the abhorrent alternative energy Satan where they remain impressively staunch – and that as such, the right has forgotten those state’s rights and that federalism and it’s pretty much also forgotten the Constitution.

Example: Had Reagan invaded the south in the 80’s in a world where slavery hadn’t been abolished, the right would have had infinitely less problem with it than if Little Baraq had tramped in in the 00’s. Or, if the clown Dubya invaded, say, Iraq in the 90’s, the right would have had infinitely less trouble with it than if Obama had blazed away ten years later.

Whether domestic of foreign, the right has obviously forgotten its moorings. I’d observe that at least the left is consistent but that’d be wrong. The left is only about as consistent as the … right.

    That’s not a principle. That’s principle, failed.

  • Chris June 12, 2018, 12:38 PM

It’s always humorous to try and figure out what’s going on in the head of a guy who writes about Reagan invading the South. Is he smart or just deranged Or do I need to embrace the power of “and”?

Being smart and actually having the ability to communicate is a gift… I believe Mr. VanderLuen has it..you , Mr. Ten, do not. Please, cease and desist.

  • Ten June 12, 2018, 12:49 PM

Among his list of insights apparently Chris has yet to number the definition of the word example, although I give his intellect suitable props both for calling for silence from the ‘derangement’ of dissenters and deploying some truly incisive Internets jargon all in the same breath.

On the other hand, with the Civil War having taken three quarters of a million American citizens in the name of a social ideal – the first SJW assault against sovereignty, as you might find it – it’s interesting to note that Chris deduces that surely Reagan would never had done what Lincoln saw fit to. How that all plays we’ll just have to wait to learn.

  • Michael Dean Miller June 12, 2018, 1:00 PM

    .

Lincoln was overrated and wrong, too.
A house divided … is just a duplex.

    .

  • Chris June 12, 2018, 1:10 PM

Ten, Thanks for proving my point… 😉

    Will you keep playing?

  • Ten June 12, 2018, 1:14 PM

I was just going to admit that upon reflection you were right, Chris – killing everybody would prevent slavery – but if this is just a game of yours then well-played, sir.

  • pbird June 12, 2018, 3:04 PM

See how it is? Fine earnest fellows on both sides of the argument. Its been going on for a long time.

  • Chris June 12, 2018, 5:38 PM

Ten, your lack of reading and reasoning skills are exceeded only by your inability to express yourself. ;-). Keep going, buddy, I know there’s got to be more.

  • Collins June 12, 2018, 9:31 PM

“Just that he was doing what had to be done to keep the country together” @ Chris, so your forebear was no different than a Concentration camp guard, or a Pol Pot lackey, or an Al Queda head chopper? Looks like the nut doesn’t fall far from the tree. Maybe we’ll meet some day over tea and crumpets, I’ll be the one with a .45 cocked and unlocked. Cheers

  • Chris June 13, 2018, 4:04 AM

~Collins Say what? I have to ask… Could you explain that line of reasoning because it has got to make for some fascinating reading. You’re basically saying Lincoln was a modern day Zarqawi or Hitler?

I strongly urge you to seek medical assistance. Mental health issues aren’t a laughing matter and with the right medication you can live a long happy and productive life. You don’t have to live like this, pal.

  • Ten June 13, 2018, 6:10 AM

When out of reason or fact Chris simply resorts to standard Internet protocol and emotes, using standard Internet catch phrases. Let’s watch while he does it again.

  • Jaynie June 13, 2018, 6:18 AM

From his article, brilliant, Mr VanderLeun:

“One section of our country believes slavery [to the state]is right, and ought to be extended, while the other believes it is wrong, and ought not to be extended. This is the only substantial dispute. …”

    And

“Physically speaking, we cannot separate. Suppose you go to war, you cannot fight always; and when, after much loss on both sides, and no gain on either, you cease fighting, the identical old questions, as to terms of intercourse, are again upon you.”

But, but, that IS what I was hoping for. Yes, you are right, I suppose, we simply won’t get along. And especially with the power wielded by the MSM to stoke and stoke divisions, disrespect, and plain old enmity.

I fear a war on our soil. Nightmarish. I enjoy a war film, and a post apocalypse story, but am so horrified by the real thing.

If we could divvy up our land physically … would we see a vibrant conservative land, brightly lit a la South Korea, versus a land of debauched, dimly lit leftists, a la that famous photo contrast the darkness of North Korea? Who knows, eh?

  • Jeff B. June 14, 2018, 5:02 AM

Like many others, I see the ending of the current path that FUSA is on ending in one of two ways.

One, we (The “Right”) simply give in to the incessant demands of the left and allow the remaining shreds of the Constitution to be wadded up and sent to the recycling bin.

Two, at some point, the Prog/Tranzi’s cross the line and the festivities get real. Welcome to the new Yugoslavia, Chechnya, Argentina or more hopefully, Chile. Whatever form this conflict erupts into, you’ll be looking at your neighbors and co-workers through the prism of where they fall on the scale of freedom, rights and individualism.

It’s coming. Ammo is relatively cheap right now. Stock up and don’t neglect magazines and repair parts.
