Not Every American “Achievement” In July of 1969 Was Noble

Ted swam to safety, but Mary Jo wasn’t as fortunate, as she died in the car*. Kennedy immediately left the scene and did not contact the authorities until after the car and Kopechne’s body were discovered the following day by fishermen.

He pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of an accident and was sentenced to two months in jail, suspended (he served no jail time at all). In 1970, a further inquiry into the matter was conducted (confidentially at the demand of Kennedy’s lawyers), and the judge determined that Kennedy’s “negligent driving appears to have contributed to the death of Mary Jo Kopechne” and could have ordered Kennedy’s arrest, but chose not to do so for unspecified reasons. Seeking a concise dosage of information? Watch the movie “Chappaquiddick.” It is shocking, repulsive and criminal what Ted did.

Love the Mary Jo K/poor Teddy reference. Who said the Krauts don’t have a sense of humor?

    Splash down.

So what you will about the Lion of Chappaquiddick but people kept voting for the turd. The mind boggles.

    “The mind boggles.”
There’s a reason why the citizens of Taxachusetts are known elsewhere as Massholes.

Howie Carr has a great new podcast up on this topic, primarily on The Lyin’ of The Senate’s behavior following his crime… https://howiecarrshow.com/2019/07/12/chappaquiddick-the-50th-anniversary-2/

The “Lion of the Senate.” *spit*
Another trust fund baby who never held a private sector job. A so-called Social Reformer who relished the life style of the Rich and Powerful. Such evil, but right there among his most vile acts was the destruction of a thoroughly decent man in Robert Bork. Truly this country’s loss when Kennedy single-handedly assassinated the character of a brilliant jurist who would have been a national treasure, had he been approved to SCOTUS. Just pure Kennedy trash in the manner of his father and grand father, Honey Fitz.
Interesting that so many Americans considered this clan of reprobates to be “American Royalty”.

I don’t worry much about Teddie. That vile, unrepentant and high handed pervert is receiving his measure throughout eternity and while that ain’t good enough for some, it’s fine with me.

“Chappaquiddick” was a revelation, until that movie I never knew that Mary Jo didn’t drown but slowly suffocated, trapped in a air pocket for hours. An excruciating death. Points to the Kennedy coverup.

I’ve lived in Massachusetts for decades, but was not quite yet of voting age when Kennedy was re-elected after “The Incident”.
The conclusion I’ve come to in my exasperation at my fellow citizens is that frankly few of them, very few, pay any attention to politics at either a state or federal level.
    Sports? Hell yes!
Kennedy is Irish, tons of Irish here.
Kennedy is Catholic, still to this day a lot of Catholics in the Bay State (and since many of the Hispanic immigrants are Catholic, that’s not changing).
The Kennedys have been the victims of tragedy so many times there is great sympathy for the family. The (inconvenient) fact that the Kennedys are responsible for most of their ‘bad luck’ is not discussed, nor is it discussable.

Yesterday as a vol. driver for the town medical van, I picked up a guy that proudly told me that he was a Kennedy cousin. Yes, he was a jerk.
One last thing, I believe that “Ad” wasn’t by Volkswagen but it was a satire, “Playboy”?

Ted drowned America in 1965 with his and other Washington weasels approval of the 1965 Hart-Celler Immigration Act which opened the floodgates of 3rd world immigration. Every single thing critics said of the immigration Act in 1965 has come true while every assertion Ted said about the Immigration Act has been shown to be a lie. We are being erased and replaced because of worms like Ted.

Heard an interesting theory lately by someone who claimed to know that said Kennedy didn’t know that Kopechne was in the car, that she had crawled into the back seat to sleep off a headache. Kennedy and some Senator’s wife, with whom he was having an affair, got in and drove off and, when they wrecked, safely escaped from the front seat. He couldn’t tell this without getting the woman in trouble. I’m sorry Mary Jo had to die, but it saved us from President Teddy.

    National Lampoon!

Now I remember. They still publishing, or did they go the way of Mad magazine?

  • CLINT FLICKER July 20, 2019, 10:20 AM

National Lampoon is long gone, the magazine anyway. Of course there’s a website, but it’s just not the same.

Say what you want about Teddy (and there is an exceedingly lot that could be said, very little of it good) the sumbitch has been sober for nearly ten years now, and not a minute too soon.

The story that has just been unearthed about Kennedy not knowing Mary Jo was in the car circulated among the native islanders almost from the beginning. My sister lived out there fulltime for a few years, and heard it from her “sewing circle”. Their version had the girl in the front seat being an underage daughter from an important Boston political family, though. I have long given it credence, since the summerfolk always hired locals to cater parties and clean up. Servants have eyes.
