“We interviewed students in D.C. to get their opinions on Socialism. Yes, they love it. No, they’re not too sure why. Watch them try to define what socialism is….”

    This coddled & selfie-loving generation believes socialism has something to do with Fakebook, Twaddle, & Snotchat: clueless & useless.

    That’s why you do not listen to youth – their enthusiasm outstrips their sense.

  • Jewel July 25, 2017, 12:32 PM

    Wow. That was dumb. That was really, really dumb. Dumb has been equally redistributed.

    Socialism is essentially taxing the productive to subsidize the unproductive. It works great until you run out of other people’s money. Ask the Venezuelans.

    Unstated in any definition though is that socialism is a first step to an authoritarian form of government.

    Students, not like these students, but more aggressive types, have indignantly demanded of me “what is wrong with socialism?” The answer that actually leaves them without words is this–a socialist is a communist without a gun.

    “Socialism is the system of social organization in which private property and the distribution of income are subject to social control; it also refers to the political movements aimed at putting that system into practice.” – Ludwig Von Mises
    It necessitates the government owning the means of production and run by bureaucrats with political motivations rather than the economic reality of the marketplace.

    It is, and always has been doomed to failure. Socialism = Venezuela.

    The system necessitates the government owning the means of production, and managed by kiss-ass bureaucrats out of political motivation rather than the economic reality of the marketplace.

    Remember, children are used to things being given to them.
    Adults are used to things being stolen from them by the gov’t.
    These people are in between the two.
    Adult bodies with child brains.
    The legal age of maturity should be raised to the age you are when you have completed 10 continuous years of enduring gov’t theft.

    Pathetic that college students are starting sentences with “I mean” and “You know”. Pfffft.

  • Harry July 26, 2017, 5:28 AM

    On the other hand, how many 50, 60, 70+ year olds still love socialism, because you know, it’s never been implemented correctly?

  • Casey Klahn July 26, 2017, 4:29 PM

    Socialism is Communism light. Confiscation of the means of production.

    IOW, it is fundamentally opposed to private ownership. We live in a country, right now, that is mostly divided about the 2 policies. Private ownership is the status quo, however to the progs in DC, all the money belongs to the government. That you get to keep any is either an oversight, failing or a temporary means of disbursement that saves on organizational effort.

    All the more reason to hold congress as corrupt, and to vote every last one out of office. We are *congress* now.

    “vote every last one out of office”
    =======================
    You’re not allowed to throw thieves out, you can only hire new ones who then replace the old ones.
    Quite an ever losing scam, no?

    “We are *congress* now.”
    ==================
    Only over yourself.
