The left had it all. But then they blew it, beginning at Berkeley.

Barry Goldwater had been crushed in a 44-state landslide and the GOP reduced to half the size of the Democratic Party, with but 140 seats in the House and 32 in the Senate. The Supreme Court of Chief Justice Earl Warren, the most liberal in history, was on a roll, and LBJ was virtually unopposed as he went about ramming his Great Society through Congress. - - How Berkeley Birthed the Right

Your Say

Just remember, according to the media, Goldwater was going to get us into a war. LBJ sounded like he was going to reduce our presence in Vietnam while Goldwater sounded more militant. Three years after LBJ was elected, we had 250,000 troops in Vietnam.

Yes,I remember that image on our black & white tv of the little girl, reaching for the pretty flower as the mushroom cloud boils in the background. It kneecapped Goldwater's campaign. The whores of Babylon media scored a major coup at the expense of a genuinely good man, worthy of leading the nation. It doesn't help that the grotesque Democrat politico LBJ was eviscerated by kindly Uncle Walter Cronkite, later, when results of war waged by political hacks took unexpected turns. There's a monument to dear Uncle Walt,in Barry Goldwater's beloved Arizona. The Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at ASU. It's a stunning edifice to hypocrisy.

Barry Goldwater was a real AMERICAN, unlike the limp-wristed assholes in the media who presume to tell everyone what to think.

Goldwater understood what the Constitution meant, and why it provided the basis for American exceptionalism.

The media went all out to destroy Donald Trump, believing that having destroyed Barry Goldwater, they could do the same thing to Trump (I'm not comparing Goldwater's understanding of the Constitution with Trump's, although The Donald is light years closer to it than either Hillary or Bernie).

But the media failed to stop Trump, mainly because his opponent — Clinton 2.0 — is so obviously corrupt, treacherous, and flagrantly dishonest.

So America got President Trump, which is a miracle; a gift from heaven, compared to the alternative.

But Oh! If we only had a President Goldwater now!

Here's Barry, wearing his heart on his sleeve...

I have little interest in streamlining government or in making it more efficient, for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom. My aim is not to pass laws, but to repeal them. It is not to inaugurate new programs, but to cancel old ones that do violence to the Constitution or that have failed their purpose, or that impose on the people an unwarranted financial burden. I will not attempt to discover whether legislation is "needed" before I have first determined whether it is constitutionally permissible. And if I should later be attacked for neglecting my constituents "interests," I shall reply that I was informed that their main interest is liberty and that in that cause I am doing the very best I can.

Oh, shoot! The one time I posted without scanning Gerard's home page, I blew it. I just noticed the same Barry Goldwater quote that I posted above.

Of course, it wasn't until right after I hit 'Send' that I saw the same quote farther down, on the Ace of Spades link...

...and Murphy's Law strikes again, dang it!

Oh, well, I guess it could have been worse; that particular quote was worth posting twice, no?
