What we see going on in America with the slow removal of Christianity from the culture.
The ruling class long ago converted to the new religion of multiculturalism.They have been slowly erasing the old religions from the public institutions and replacing it with their own. Now they have moved into privateinstitutions by forcing Christians to worship at the altar of multiculturalism. The abandonment of a common body of Judeo-Christian values is going to make life hell for us all.
When the members of a society cannot agree on what is right and what is wrong, then it becomes impossible to make laws relying on these principles---the parameters of every possible activity, no matter how small, have to be re-defined and legislated anew. What you end up with is a morass---an accretion of petty, irrational and conflicting laws that smother freedom, criminalize behavior indiscriminately, and make life a living hell, the moral equivalent of the duct-work in "Brazil."
