Cannonballs and bayonet charges are terrible things,

but they pale in comparison to massed machine gun fire on advancing infantry.
It would seem blazingly obvious that unless you have an answer for the machine gun, much less the new artillery, you don’t willingly go to war. That’s not what happened. Two great industrial wars latter and the West was just about dead..... It’s fun to speculate, but flying death robots alone change the way the world will be fighting wars in the future. Things like carriers can quickly become white elephants in a world where a swarm or drones can fall out of the sky or come up from the depths of the ocean. Everyone forgets about the coming proliferation of a independently controlled torpedoes that can literally roam the ocean looking for targets. The microprocessor goes from being a force multiplier to a force nullifier. - - The New Ways Of War

Your Say

Right. A brigade submariner drones release the cotter pins on the propeller shafts and then commence to reverse spotwelding the rivets along the structural aspects of the hull.

In the not so distant future the modernists home will feature a *garage* built-in that will house a series of palm sized drones designed to perform specific tasks regarding home security.

At all times no less than 2 drones will be patrolling the property on a preconceived pathway with panoramic lenses continuously uploading to the homes own cloud 1080p video of all things on said property.

If a difference of 2% is noticed in any patrol cycle a number of things will occur. The owner(s) of the property will be notified, as well as the law enforcement body. A 3rd and 4th drone will be dispatched to the different region for continuous scrutiny while the previous drones continue on their paths.

If the difference decides for any reason to leave the area drones 3 and 4 will track it while continuously capturing video of it's behavior.

The patrol drones will work on 2 hour cycles so that there is always at least 2 drones in operation. While docked they will be recharging and performing other self maintenance and all information will be recorded so that no interruptions will occur. The entire operation is powered by the grid with a built-in solar based system with AGM batteries capable of 2 weeks power in case of grid down situations.

If the patrol drones are attacked in any way the next wave of drones will be released to nullify said attack.

The Nullification Drones are the size of a thumb nail and will be released in swarms of 100 or more depending on the threat. The hulls of the Nullification Drones are producing 50,000 volts and simple contact by any of them with the threat will render it incapacitated. This system is capable of neutralizing any number of threats simultaneously.

All of these drones are powered by means other than propellers as they have been realized to be the weak link. Simply, props fail, a lot. Speed and agility are the key for these drones to avoid attack by known assault system in place currently, ie., firearms. If you are alive they will *see* you. The only way to have success with these drones is to avoid them at all costs.

As the General Belgrano proved there are two types of warships, Submarines and floating death traps.
