All illegals must be given amnesty — citizenship would be most ideal

— and as many immigrants from any country on Earth must be permitted to come to America.
That is the Leftist frame. All that is open for discussion is how we can give them more money, more benefits, and how we can best elevate their lives. The lives of the existing citizenry are irrelevant. Nothing is allowed to be discussed, except how America can best give up its wealth to everyone else. Stones are Hard, Water is Wet. Your Say

Do these 2 things:
1) Get rid of all the freebies, and
2) Enforce existing laws.

Do that and you'll see bazillions of black marks heading over the borders going the other ways.

There is no constitutional authority for 1) (the first motherfucker that mentions that "general welfare clause" gets punched right in the face, twice).

2) Is the only active role required of the gov't yet it is not done so what is the point in even having a gov't?

Clue: If the gov't refuses to act upon the only valid role it has then it is no gov't at all and is simply a collection of criminals, stealing from the citizenry, that have not yet been arrested, convicted, and penalized.

Who is the ultimate penalizer?

YOU.
The person that all of them is supposed to be working for but is not.

Where's your long knife?

Why even have a government? So we can have a protected wealthy class to invent and enforce rules that the rest of us must accept.

I'd be happy if they'd a) enforce all the laws on the books equally, and b) get rid of the laws that are unnecessary, silly, archaic, or irritate me.
