As Barack Obama gives his farewell speech in Chicago and Donald Trump gets ready to assume office,

it may be useful to reflect on the oath the incoming president will take.

"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States." It is an oath not to an Arc of History, the Planet or some progressive vision of the future. It's not an oath to Mexico or Europe or the Liberal world order. The text of the oath is a declaration of allegiance to permanent interests of the United States and the people who live in it, as determined by the Constitution and the laws of the land -- or it is nothing. Well that may be what it USED to mean but....

Words now mean whatever the speaker wants them to mean, silly.

Proof?

Did obammy uphold his oath to when he made a brand new tax called obammycare where he had no constitutional authority to do so?

Further, according to the media trump is trying to do the same thing but different.

As George W Bush said, "It's just a goddamned piece of paper!"

Regardless, that contract has nothing to do with me anyway, so the criminals can do with it as they please.

The fault dear Brutish, is not so much in our stars of stage, screen, and government, but in our watchmen and those who need to be watching the watchmen -- that's us, the citizens and their robot advisers.

Zackly! Obama never intended to uphold his oath. And if the people of this land don't force them to keep their word, that piece of paper means nothing. Corrective help requires shoving the barrel of that .44 up their nose while informing them of their obligations. If you are nice about it, you can remove the blade sight from the barrel to lessen the pain of the insertion.

One cannot count on our Congress to "Do the right thing".
