What the hell was that all about?

The only reason the Japanese are a high functioning culture is because they are a homogeneous society. The fact that they are so fundamentally weird but still relatively affluent is testimony to the advantages of homogenous civilizations. If they are left to their own devices without western positive influences they eventually become divorced from reality and if given weapons they become violently corrupted and dangerous.

I'll have to agree with Tim on this one.

When we are amazed that rock breaks scissors, we will have achieved enlightenment.

Bill Henry,
Well said!

The Japanese are interesting in their level of organization and discipline. The first time I flew into Japan I noticed from above, many small populated areas with that had trees planted in a perfect matrix. These areas did not appear to be trees for growing fruit. Simply little areas of different shapes, filled in with a perfect spacing of trees.

While working in the PI, we had a group of Japanese men come in for an audit on our manufacturing floor. One VERY large audit item was cleanliness. One of them put on a white glove and ran his hand on the floor underneath some of our manufacturing equipment to see if the white glove would find any dust. We knew from experience they would be doing that.
