I wish Prof. Sowell would continue to remark on the economy. Our most interesting days lie ahead.

The problem in all of that is lashing your hopes and dreams to that losing notion of *our*, considering about 1/2 the people in this country wish you dead or worse.

Last time I considered myself an *our* I was young and dumb and wore a green uniform and almost got killed for it.

Never again.

They can do whatever they want to sink this ship I happen to be riding in but I have my own lifeboat as all sane people should.

Sowell is one of the good ones, so it has seemed for at least 10 years that I have been reading him, by way of Lew Rockwell's site and TownHall.

Sowell's BASIC ECONOMICS should be required reading in all high schools and prerequisite before anyone in Congress starts working.

I have two little ones that are being prepared for a sinking ship, but for their sake, I hope it does not. Both of them (girl and boy) are regularly trained in Jujitsu and with firearms. Took them to the gun range I work at two weekends ago to shoot some .22s and just after we left some dude rented a .45 and purposely put one through his noodle. Glad they didn't see it. At least the dude didn't want to take anybody with him.

He could have had the decency to buy a gun and go way out in the deep forest and do it so as to not affect others. Imagine what the range folks have to deal with now.

I wrote my own will about 5 years ago, to my wife. She is the only one that matters now. It's nobody else's business. If I get a terminal illness that cannot be efficiently cured pretty quick I will do as I described above. I will not be a burden to others, if I can help it.

I'm glad you are concerned about the future for your kids and are talking a forward stance in preparing them for life's unexpected turns.
