On baloney

I love overstated spicy food. But I also love the understated, such as real Wien wieners and mild “ballpark” (Montreal kosher) mustard, sweet green relish, and French processed cheese, in a bun. (I believe this is called a “hot dog.”) I love foods that whisper, as well as foods that shout. But they should whisper affectionately. : Essays in Idleness

I quit watching the food porn stations and now cook simply. It is freedom to be able to cook only what is necessary, and not have to labor in my mind over what to make for dinner that will outshine last night's dinner. Fun as it was, sometimes, a grilled cheese sandwich and bowl of tomato soup are the best dinners of the week.

Simple is the plan around here.

My wife and I eat 1 meal per day, our supper, and we nibble on various other things sporadically throughout the day, with the overall goal of eliminating sugar.

Typically our supper meal will cost between $1 and $4 per serving.

It's not what you eat but how you prepare and serve it.

It helps greatly to not be a gluttonous hawg.

Eating til you're *full* will imprison your morbidly obese ass to the couch, and you know it.

Simpler IS better.
