Trump succeeded in large part because of three brilliant, super-tough, ultra-effective women:

KellyAnne Conway, Katrina Pierson, and Ivanka Trump.

If you cried on election day because it was a bad day for women, perhaps you were looking in the wrong direction. While You Were Looking in the Wrong Direction | Scott Adams' Blog

Your Say

I read an article about the Ivanka Trump voter. They were suburban women that wouldn't vote for Trump. But they liked Ivanka's clothes and were willing to vote Trump because of her.

Interesting how candidates that run on grrrl power never seem to have any women running the campaign.

Gerard, I am really glad you linked to this entry from Scott Adams. I got infernally tired of the number of males (I will not call them gentlemen) on the Right who suggested/urged/demanded the repeal of the 19th Amendment. I have to mention the Z-human in particular: I began reading him because you linked to him so often, and I very much respect your judgment. But he outed himself as just one more dyspeptic old coot; the day he posted a screed referring to half the human race as "broads" was the day I struck him from my blogroll and haven't been back since.

And yes, I did vote for Trump. I treasure the franchise for two reasons: 1) My own mother was born five years before the passage of the 19th Amendment and was thrilled that she could vote when she reached 21 (she cast her first vote for Alf Landon, so I regard Trump's win as sweet payback for 1936); 2) I had a wonderful history teacher in fifth and sixth grade who spoke often of the precious right to vote as one of the greatest blessings of American citizenship, and she made us promise that we would exercise that right responsibly and as often as possible (Mrs. Ryder was a Wellesley graduate, so I can forgive the school for Hillary Clinton).

Okay, end of homily-- and thank you again for your blog. It's a daily must-read for me.

Why are we giving credit to Hillary for breaking the glass ceiling? Shouldn't that go to and remain with Thatcher?

That "Glass Ceiling". It was shattered long ago. Hillary's enormously expensive and fruitless attempt to subjugate us to her quasi feminist bullshit is laughable.

Rick: No. Wu Zetian. Ruled unofficially as empress consort and empress dowager and later, officially as empress regnant during the brief Zhou dynasty, 684-705. (Thanks Smithsonian Channel and Wikipedia.)
