Your Say

IOW, Idly daydreaming on a cliff.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Speaking plainly.

Interesting choice of words, all meld, ataraxia is a state I think most people would want to attain. Been on a cliff or two, after climbing a long-ass trail. The mind clears, up there.

Only in my dreams.

Ah, I have managed to attain that blessed state for a few mere moments; but my mind, ever busy, ever yammering for my attention, too often intrudes. It gets a little easier as I approach my 70th year. The one time I was able to sustain the feeling was last year after a grueling climb of Angel's Landing in Zion National Park, to the very pinnacle and end of the trail. Once there, physically exhausted and having faced a few terrifying looks down the 1500-foot drop, I sat at the end of the trail and saw hawks and eagles flying BELOW me, the wind touching my face and I entered that nirvana state of nothingness. It was wonderful, one of those "soul moments" that I can take with me to whatever awaits me on the other side of this life.
