A Quick Tour of the Remotest Island in the World

aatristan.jpg

Not a single ship visited Tristan da Cunha from 1909 until 1919, until the HMS Yarmouth finally stopped by to inform the islanders of the outcome of World War I.
Accessible on by sea, Tristan da Cunha is in fact an archipelago, the remotest inhabited one in the world, although only the main island was settled by man, with a permanent population of 265 residents as of September 2016. -- Messy Nessy Chic

Who says there's nowhere white people can go when Clinton II opens the country to a surge of Africans?

Lonely planet.
Not that there's anything wrong with that.
Appears to be a couple other decent sized uninhabited islands right around there.
They shun technology.

In and out of Ascension a lot in the '50s-60s resupplying Cape Canaveral down range sites. Got diverted once Ascension-St. Helena-Recife to kick out a package of urgent medical supplies over the St. Helena airstrip. Couldn't land there at that time. Understand they have a JetPort now. Saw a lot of lonesome back then, but never saw Tristan.

Stoat Weasel did a post on Tristan a while back and I've been fascinated by the island ever since. The history is pretty amazing. The entire island was evacuated in 1961 when the volcano erupted. After over a year in England they all went back. They have a website, and a Facebook page.

Same here, and I don't know why.
Read everything I could find about it yesterday including it's history back to the 1500's, looked at it with a magnifying glass in multiple maps, and in my idle moments I find myself thinking about it. Something about this place stirs me like no other.

Communist society complete with police. Nice pictures but, no cigar.

Might be just the place to stuff that Black Lives Matter batch. See how they make out there.
