"I tell people that when there’s a bullet in the air, there’s hope. "

What are the best and longest shots you’ve made or witnessed?
TH: I was training Marines out in Utah, and the longest shot that several of us made during the training was a boulder, and it was 4,889 meters away. One of the most impressive shots I’ve seen was when my son shot a pig at 1,668 meters. Long range is different for everybody. I’ve seen phenomenal shots, which were closer distances, because the call was more difficult. Some of the luckiest shots, I’ve ever had were with a pistol. Your Say

I have told this story before, but since requested, I will brag it again. Using a deer rifle-not tricked out as an LR rifle, I put 3 rounds into a Whitetail buck at 550 yards. Not the best ethics, but he is on the wall right now. To prove it wasn't a fluke, that next Spring, I heart-shot a 'yote at 550 yards with the same rifle. These shots were from the prone, bipod supported, and field conditions (no bench).

Then, my bullet-drop compensator came apart. Our usual shot here is in the 2 hundreds, and our zero is at 200. Open country.

If anyone is willing to donate a sniper set-up for my good looks, I'm open to that.

Donated stuff is rarely appreciated.
Earned stuff is cherished.

A 250gr bullet from my *deer rifle* will drop 27 feet at 550 yds and I rarely shoot it, for each trigger pull costs about $9. It's the very same *deer rifle* my Pappy used in rural Pennsylvania in the 1950's.

This what it looks like:

(still has the Boyts leather too)

It's a keeper and I save the empties. If I ever locate a die I'll refill em.

33.7 in at 500 yards / what I shoot now. What I shot then I think was a 36" drop at 500 yrds.

27 feet! You get into mortar territory then.
