It is one thing to say, "Don't vote for that guy, he's an asshole."

It is a completely different thing to say, "Don't vote for that guy, you asshole."
I speak for many when I say that the unforgivable assaults on the decency, integrity, intelligence (and even the right to exist), of Trump's working class supporters only served to further breed an already-exploding resentment against the Republican Establishment, and by extension their preferred candidates. In my 35 years of watching politics, I have never seen a political party's elites attack and demean millions of their own voters. 8 Reasons Why #NeverTrump Failed

Your Say

NeverTrump hasn't failed yet.

If had a lot of disagreements with the Trumpkins, and there were two things I noted that this article is either unaware of or purposefully ignoring:

a) Trump fans took any and all disagreements as insults, and answered substantive questions with responses ranging from 'Fuck You, Loser!' to 'Trump 2016!' and my personal favourite, 'Get on the Trump Train and stop being a little bitch!'

b) Trump and his fans lied obsessively about every other candidate, refused to discuss any actual policy, history, or temperament questions, and routinely inserted themselves into conversations that had nothing to do with Trump with the same responses listed above.

That's not to say that insults never fell upon the sTrumpets, but that they were and are a fantastical combination of thin-skinned and scatalogically predisposed in their vocabulary, making them a funhouse mirror of the progressives, and deserving every bit of mockery that has been mustard against them.

I understand the Trump phenomenon, the actual motivations and irrelevance of Trump's history and statement in proportion to his support.

What I will not do is apologize for opposing him, or for the treatment his supporters received short of violence, because they really have shown themselves to be SJWesque in both their disregard and insulting dismissal of opposing views, and being as humourless a scold as any BLMer when presented with any information that damages their beliefs.

And yeah, I'm probably going to vote for Trump because Hillary is noxious.

David Z,

Saved by your last sentence.

We have to fight, or it's 2 – 3 more Leftist Supreme Court justices like the last ones.

Either we fight now when the odds are good, or we fight when it's hopeless. But sooner or later, we will have to fight.

In any fight you don't get to have everything your way. You take what you've got, and make the best of it — or you will lose, and you will be the other side's bitch. For all eternity, or close enough that it doesn't matter.

If you sit this one out, it's the same as voting for Hillary. And you do not want the intense regrets that will torture you from then on.

Remember your naive hope that Obama wouldn't be so bad? That he would unite us, not divide us? Me, too.

Hoping that Hillary won't be so bad will end up being ten times worse. Obama took more than four years to get up to speed with his Leftist agenda. Hillary will hit the ground running.

This is a fight to the death, whether everyone knows it or not. And it's winner take all.

Vote accordingly.

Smokey, I was anti Obama before it was cool. Lived in Chicago 2006-2009, knew all about him and how horrible he would be.

You may have felt the need to fight with no quarter to get your guy in there, but don't expect the people your side shat upon - while your compatriots got the vapors every time someone (gasp!) made a new sTrumpet nickname - to actively support the Trumpkins or his oompa-loompas.

Yeah, if my state vote is close, I will hold my nose and vote for the asshole. If it's not, I'll vote Johnson or some other protest vote, because I live in Deep Blueville, and my opinion on matters outside my county no longer counts.

But your victory has cemented opposition that circumstances will never alleviate. Expect nothing from us who your side defeated, because of the way the victory was achieved.

Most of us will be Machiavellian enough to go along with some of what you want, but the knives will never be resheathed.
