Those Without Swords Can Still Die Upon Them

The firearm is the tool that makes any man or woman physically dangerous to the trained soldier. (Ask any Revolutionary-era Redcoat. Ask any soldier today in Iraq.)
No other weapon is as effective at force-equalization. There is more than a little truth in the sales slogan, "God made man. Sam Colt made them equal." Combine that lethality with rigorous training and formidable armies can be created. Instill in those armies an aberrant philosophical grounding - a coercive religion, a need for "living space," a belief in racial superiority - and aggressive and immoral war will result. A fundamental belief in individual liberty, however, will produce government that fights only when it must, and quits when it believes itself safe. And it will produce an army that will fight with both ferocity and morality - as moral as war allows, at any rate. Further, a population that believes in individual liberty, and is armed to defend it, offers a formidable challenge to either invasion or internal usurpation. The Smallest Minority:

Dream on!
A serious cyber attack or EMP attack that brings down our electricity system, will kill more of us than all the guns will-- and will throw the attack's survivors back to savagery.

If you want a rifle or pistol that the Feds know nothing about check out 80% AR-15 and 80% 1911. It's not cheaper than factory made but you can buy an 80% finished lower receiver and finish it yourself with available tools. The firearm will have no serial number, is 100% legal, but can not be sold. It's yours and only yours.

For the rifle, the only federally controlled item is the piece of an AR-15 that houses the trigger, ammo magazine slides into, where pistol-grip attaches. It has a serial number. An 80% lower, ships directly to any address, like a book from Amazon. You just need to drill out some pieces of the receiver. Add pieces bought elsewhere and assemble your new rifle.

The 1911 pistol ( WWI & WWII Army pistol)likewise can be shipped to any address as an 80% piece and you can finish it with tools and pieces you buy. No serial number. YouTube has tons of videos.

It's not a first choice to get a gun, but a legal way to get a "Ghost Gun". My choice would be a "Police Trade-In" from Buds Gun Shop. They have many Smith & Wesson M&P40 with 3 17-round magazines for $400 or less. The magazines would usually cost about $25each. They also have S&W M&P9 for 9mm ammo. Reliable and inexpensive.

In a pinch you can always make a single-shot 12 gauge shotgun with iron pipe from Home Depot. That's on YouTube also.

"Rand proclaims that the one fundamental right is "a man's right to his own life," yet that right has been unrecognized throughout most of human history."

====================

The word *right* is abused many times everyday, seems no one knows what it is.

It is not given to you by a gov't.
The gov't gives privileges, which can be revoked.

Rights, however, are yours from the moment you are born.

If someone does not recognize your right to your own life and tries to take it from you, you must dispatch that person at once. It is your right and your duty to do so.

As I told Kevin long ago, and it can be found on his site, "My rights are not dependent upon your recognition of them."

And if I recall correctly, I pointed out that your rights do you absolutely no good at all if the society you live in doesn't recognize them, or worse repudiates them. There's a whole list of posts on the left sidebar of the blog where I discuss this at length under the heading "The 'Rights' Discussions".

And thanks for the link, Gerard.

Kevin, you commended me and John Kennedy.
I looked for that post last night but could not find it. I'll try again as it was a good thread.

I am talking A and you are talking B and they are not the same thing.
If someone steals my truck it doesn't mean I never owned it.

Yes, someone can cage you and kill you but that doesn't mean your natural rights never existed.

It means you don't have your truck. Or your freedom.

Call me a pragmatist, but ideology doesn't matter much if you can't defend it.
