Simply put, however, the Venezuelan economy has disappeared.
Mass starvation and riots loom as it is now apparent to all but the most fanatical chavista, that Venezuela's fabulous oil wealth has been squandered by corruption, mismanagement, and, above all, by the consequences of the belief that trust in government is the solution to life's problems. The Venezuelans are discovering what millions of others have: let your liberty get taken away in exchange for promises of safety and porridge, and you will end up with neither liberty, safety nor porridge. I hope that Trump will take a little time, in his debates with the Marxist opposition, to explain and reiterate the Venezuelan implosion. That might be his only opportunity to speak to America's low info crowd.

Obama has been back-pedaling like a Mofo since originally supporting the left in Venezuela. Now this.
Still think Reagan was wrong in Latin America? When I'm president (dreamscaping here - remain calm) I'm going to sit on the heads of SA and CA leftists until their eyes bug out. This sh!t should end soon. Maybe I'll take a couple of battleships out of mothballs for good measure. Dust off some campaign hats for the Marines.

With respect, BillH, that is not the lesson to be learned. What is to be learned is that "socialism" can never be exterminated no matter the actual experience because it is in our basic wiring. It is liberty that is learned or unlearned.
