How Tenderness Leads to the Gas Chamber
The liberal West has been driving on the fumes of Christianity for about a century now and the car won’t go much further.
We think all that matters is being tolerant, kind, compassionate, forgiving and by that what we mean is that we let anybody do whatever they want however they want because personal freedom is all that matters and “who am I to judge?” The problem with this is that without the Christian faith there is soon no Christian morals. Why should a person be good if there is no God? As Dostoevsky said, “If there is no God everything is possible.” When the only virtue left is tolerance and tenderness everybody gets away with everything and there’s no one to put on the brakes. -- Patheos

The author of that statement cannot be trusted because it has no idea what the diff is between good and bad.
According to that person, in the absence of god, it will go off it's moral compass.
Even though there are millions of examples otherwise.
There are none so immoral as those that cling to supernatural manifestations - the very definition of insanity.

We certainly have a sufficient number of moral compasses provided by a variety of "religions" each producing a true north according to "The Augury of the Day".

Did we lose our moral compass because we lost our faith or did we lose our faith because we lost our moral compass? While correlation does not imply causation, it can give us a clue. Everyone acts on a set of beliefs. At any rate, we can probably agree that for SOME reason, things (specifically Christian morals) have gone downhill. And why should a person be good if there is no God? Because it's the right thing to do? Who says and by what authority?
