Sadly, I have looked in my own attic and found nothing but dust bunnies

Art Dealer Says Painting Found in French Attic Is a Caravaggio
PARIS — It seems almost too good to be true: A long-lost Caravaggio worth millions is discovered languishing in an attic in France, unseen by the family that had lived there for generations. But that is indeed the case, a French art dealer said this week, in declaring that after two years of research, a painting of “Judith Beheading Holofernes” found near Toulouse in 2014 was an authentic work by the Italian Renaissance master.

Your Say

"unseen...for generations." Probably that was the safest situation and condition for this painting, given the huge, wholesale theft of art by Nazis and Russians in WW II. The Italians are still P.O.ed because they want all Italian art in Italy.

My favorite painter, and an interesting narrative to boot.

I only have rats in my attic, and bats in my belfry.

In celebration a mosque will be built on the site of the house.

The painting is not a Caravaggio. If you examine it closely you will see that it is much cruder than his. It appears to be painted by a fan or student maybe. The faces especially of the guy, are cartoonish and lack delicacy. If you go look at some known Caravaggios for a while you will see that it couldn't be his. I can't post it here but take a look at The Taking of Christ.
