You Won't Believe This, But 'Impromptu Metal Snake' Is the Name of My Black Oak Arkansas Tribute Band. But I Digress

The sewer drill came with a battered metal case filled with medieval torture devices disguised as end fittings for the sewer cables.
I chose the goofiest-looking one from the bunch. It was a bendy one-foot spring with a nasty-looking spike on the end shaped like a spade on a deck of cards. I clicked it onto the first length of auger cable, and then shoved it by hand into the pipe until it hit the turn. Then we hooked it up to the machine, said a poopy prayer, and turned it on..... - - Sippican Cottage:

Your Say

'Impromptu Metal Snake' Is the Name of My Black Oak Arkansas Tribute Band.

What does that even mean, anybody know?

Thanks, Uncle. Here's the deal. Many once popular bands from the previous decades are no longer extant or touring. But the fans still want to hear the hit songs from those bands played live. Enter "The Tribute Band" in which a group of musicians learns and plays the hits of said bands pretty much note for note... i.e. Eagles Tribute Band #4,212... and so on and so forth. Often the names of these tribute bands are taken from the hit songs or the habits and behavior of the original group.

Hence the naame of the item on the link at Sippican Cottage, written by a good man who is a craftsman and a journeyman, great writer, and previously played in a bar band doing requests.

And that'd what it means. You'd now that if your computer came equipped with Google search software.

Do try to keep up.

Thanks for the explain.
I was somewhat familiar with tribute bands but did not know what it had to do with Sippican, now I do, sort of.

Google has indeed been my friend since it's inception but being way back here in the sticks where sunshine has to be pumped in daily we are besought with nothing but a lowly satellite dish for our internet, which means no streaming of anything, no youtubes, nothing, but a few pictures, email, and plenty of reading material. The price some people are willing to pay (for 10 years now) for a little slice of what we call paradise. Now I'm gonna listen to some REAL Black Oak, from the archives....maybe a little Jim Dandy.
