Cash, it turns out, is the Achilles’ Heel of the financial system.

This is starting to become very concerning.
The momentum to “ban cash”, and in particular high denomination notes like the 500 euro and $100 bills, is seriously picking up steam. Prominent economists and banks have joined the refrain and called for an end to cash in recent months. What’s really behind this? Why is there such a big movement to ban something that is used for felonious purposes by just a fraction of a percent of the population? Cash, it turns out, is the Achilles’ Heel of the financial system. Woodpile Report

Your Say

Just curious: when did "concerning" replace "disconcerting"? I hear and see that sooooo much these days, usually when some pedestrian is interviewed for tv or in the comboxes. Although, even media sorts who should know better use it, too.

Cash is only one small part of the barter system. The Government hopes to stymie the underground economy. that is impossible. Easier to ban underage kids from smoking or drinking.

That's correct veedub.

It's the natural order of things for people to deal with each other in mutual exchange and it has nothing to do with any sort of gov't.

Mutual exchange has occurred all along the way since before 1789 and in spite of the politicians constantly picking everyone's pockets it will continue to occur for as long as intelligent people exist.

This is also true for the roads and the military and everything else people want.

There is no need, nor has there ever been a need, for any gov't.

The people that believe there is a need for a gov't (thieving criminals) are either very low intelligence or of such spineless character that they are scared all the time.

Both, have been easily convinced their lives are better with criminals in charge of their lives.

Yes, they are oxymorons with the emphasis on morons, and they seem to be in the majority these days.

Buying, selling and trading is what all free men do. The words "capitalism" and "freedom" are synonymous. When our government limits the tools and means of exchange between honest men, we are simply no longer free.
