‘How do we stop people noticing what’s going on in front of their eyes?’

Angela Merkel said recently when she met Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook,‘What can you do to stop people writing anti-immigration comments on Facebook?’. That’s the German chancellor, the most important woman in Europe these days. That’s what your political class and our political class in Europe are worrying about - ‘How do we stop people noticing what’s going on in front of their eyes?’ -- Douglas Murray

Your Say

Poke them in the eyes with sharp sticks. If that doesn't work, there's always the STASI to hush them up, get them in a damp basement for some fast re-education.

You can remove Merkel from East Germany but you can't remove East Germany from Merkel.

Harass them, unmercifully, call them names like “the enemy”, accuse them of being “liars”. Call them “deniers” if they don’t agree with you. Use every government agency, such as the IRS, TSA and NSA, to surveil, intimidate and monitor their life.

Lecture them about how “dangerous rhetoric” leads to some current violent, isolated incident done by a mentally unstable person thereby linking the crime to them via the listener’s subconscious. Conversely, use violent rhetoric yourself to demonize the opponent to fuel the listener’s hatred of those people.

Attack any media personalities that they frequent. Publically call out those TV channels or radio talk show hosts that call attention to your shortcomings, failings or doings. Make it personal, tell the public they should not watch or listen to them. Again, this gives your side ammo to use against them.

While at the same time use the media, befriend, invite them to your parties and social gatherings. Let them let them think they are “changing the world” (that’s your goal anyways) instead of what they should actually be doing – reporting the news, and holding the government responsible.

Blame them whenever something bad is exposed or have a different subject matter to harp about to deflect away from the original story. Since you’ve won over the media they will happily oblige and the matter will disappear.

Finance, support and nurture any and all groups or organizations that make any small, inconsequential incident into an indictment of our “society shortcomings”. Especially if it calls attention to and fuels grievances of historical wrongdoings.

Tear down all beloved national institutions, imagery, representations, history, etc. that they love. Such as, but not limited to - the flag, the military, the Supreme Court, the Constitution…any and all things that they cherish and hold dear.

Exaggerate, misappropriate facts, tell half-truths, or outright lie to make it appear that this country is responsible for ALL the wrongs happenings across the globe.

Always take any opportunity to be divisive while at the same time lamenting about how you want to “unite” everyone.

Take away their constitutional rights by telling the public that “sensible” laws must be passed, that everyone who is “reasonable” agrees and that it’s for the good of the country and “security”.
