"Chicago, Chicago, that slaughterin' town!"

Chicago. A place where the herd culls itself:

A man was found shot to death in the Austin neighborhood and five others were wounded in shootings on the South Side, according to authorities. The man killed, 21, was found face-down with gunshot wounds by officers responding to a call of a person shot. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Someone had shot him in the chest and abdomen, police said. Three people were shot in the Wentworth Gardens neighborhood Monday night, police said. The three were in the 3800 block of South Wells Street when they were shot just before 9 p.m., said Officer Michelle Tannehill, a Chicago police spokeswoman. The closest actual street address is the 3800 block of South Princeton Avenue, according to multiple maps of the area. Two suffered graze wounds and one was shot in the leg, Tannehill said, citing preliminary information that did not include hospitalization information or a description of what happened. -| Jammie Wearing Fools

Your Say

You have to ask yourself, "Why have the authorities allowed this stuff to go on for so long?'

I mean, they can stir up shit in a hundred places around the globe but they don't even try to quell the violence in their own country.

How in the world can any sane person with a conscience *vote* for the continuance of such behavior?

Mass cognitive dissonance nationwide.

It's a demented sub-culture thing that is difficult to change -- authorities and the main culture don't care enough to intervene. Not enough of the 'sane' feel threatened enough to control or rehab the predators. Prevention?, here and there in the USA some efforts help but the larger community feels hopeless, and feels it's not their responsibility.
Europe is experiencing this sort of thing now, having quaffed the culture of angry Islam. Looking at Europe is like looking at one of our probable futures. Eastern Europeans seem to have their heads on straight; Western Europeans seem to prefer to have their heads off straight.
