Consensus is invoked only in situations where the science is not solid enough.

Nobody says the consensus of scientists agrees that E=mc2. Nobody says the consensus is that the sun is 93 million miles away. It would never occur to anyone to speak that way. Aliens Cause Global Warming Michael Crichton

Consensus -- agreement among the doubters lying about their confidence in their position taken in the absence of sufficient evidence. Or, more tersely, malodorous BS.

My uncle Letsgo "The Bantam King" Lozko was privileged to attend an international convention in Sheboygan Wisconsin dealing with the effects of animal manure on Global Warming. One of the conclusions arrived at was that when the temperature rises the globe gets hotter. *Nine out of ten experts agreed. When the globe gets hotter we save a lot of money on heating bills.
*The tenth expert disagreed mainly because he hadn't thought of it first.

Bantam chickens were found to be the most efficient, with feed in, manure out, calories of heat extracted from the output.

Least efficient to many people's surprise was human beings. Too much manure, too much hot air, not enough calories.

Their lips would turn blue just shooting the breeze.
