What It Takes to Be a Hotshot

At fire season's peak, we head out with California's firefighting elite to find out what it takes to run in their ranks. | Huckberry

Your Say

Total bull-shit. I have lived in the mountains of the west all my life. Both of my brothers, our father and grandfather volunteered and actually fought wild fires until the narcotic addicted elite little girls took over the US Forest Service.

The pussies seen in the pictures on that site are "wana-bee men" not men. Fake beards worn by fake boys is what you see. The red gasoline cans shown are to keep the fires going with drip torches for the very nice paying overtime.

Wild fire is BIG business now. These wimps know it and make jokes about how many homes might be burn't. Sickening.

The pack list shown is laughable. How about a forty pound battle pack of ammo plus grenades, etc.

Those little boys aren't fit to pack a real man's lunch.

The town I live near is crawling with these piss ants all summer long. And every fire is allowed to burn, "too dangerous to approach".

"....the ability to carry over 70 pounds of tools and survival gear...."
===========================

Complete and utter bullshit.

The author of this article, one Zach Piña, has never lifted and/or carried 70 lbs. That is why he fell for this outrageous farce.

Look, all of this is just one more gov't make-work scene with enormous payouts to a few along with over the top bragging rights, with very little substance behind any of it.

Everything this rotten assed gov't ever was, is, and will ever be is 99% illusion and 100% criminal, and this silly assed "hotshots" is just more of the same.

I don't doubt any of what Terry above said.

Give the twins some toys. One gets a supersoaker, the other a box of sure strike matches.

Turn them loose in CA, one north the other south...

My neighbor directly across the road works for a private contracting company that supplies fuel to the fires (USFS fire fighting operations) in this area of ID. This fuel is a 50/50% mixture of diesel and gasoline in those five gallon red containers like shown in the pictures on the site referenced.

Just what vehicle/equipment is fueled by this mixture? None. It goes into drip torches. Do drip torches extinguish fires?
