What It's Like To Be Buried Alive

With well over 5000 hours flying time, I've had a few terse moments. When peace emerged, I could no more tell you what I was thinking during the unpleasantness than I could recite the Bible. I could recall what was going on with the airplane, but not what was in my mind. When you're trained like we were, instinct takes over.
