There are currently around 110 million rifles in the hands of American citizens. With ammo.

In 1777 at the Battle of Saratoga, Timothy Murphy was one of 500 crack rifleman
who had accompanied Gen. Daniel Morgan to thwart Gen. John “Gentleman Johnny” Burgoyne and his invading British Army. Murphy climbed a tree with his Kentucky rifle and took aim at Brig. Gen. Simon Fraser, who was busy rallying the British troops in an effort push back the Americans’ regular forces. Murphy took the shot even though Fraser was more than 300 yards away. Call him the original American sniper. Murphy’s shot dropped Fraser to the ground — and the general died the next day.

Your Say

110 million rifles. Well and good. Who will lead this militia (of honest, law abiding and God fearing Americans)?

von Clausewitz said that in war, the moral is to violence as 2 is to 1. And he was just a sissy Prussian.

Interesting to note that up to that time, shooting officers was not considered correct rules of warfare. The British were very taken aback when the Americans began killing officers, thus disrupting the combat cohesiveness of the unit.

And that set off the animal rights activists. To this day they're a pain in the ass.

110 million rifles....and that just the ones they know about. There are millions of shotguns and pistols too and thousands of hunters and veterans who know how to use them.

All that is needed is a reason. Cohesiveness will certainly follow.

American snipers also bagged the commanding British General who had ordered the burning of the White House in the War of 1812, which was a factor in halting the British march on Baltimore.
