The “Outsider” Explanation

aatrumprobot.jpg

The “outsider” explanation for Trump’s run is a classic tell for cognitive dissonance. In order for that explanation to make sense, one must assume that Ben Carson or Carly Fiorina would have taken out Bush as effectively as Trump. Are you feeling that? - -Scott Adams Blog

Your Say

I kind of get the feeling Jeb Bush doesn't need to be taken out. Do you, or anyone you know, or anyone you've read, want to vote for Bush? Does anyone? Anywhere?

The reason Trump is having more success than Dr Carson or Fiorina, is because he will not be ignored. He will not allow others to define the terms of the debate. He is a buffoonish character, and he knows it. He uses it to his advantage. Our country is long past being honorable and stately. Crass times, must demand crass people. It will only get uglier, but, maybe we will get a damn fence out of it.

Fence hell.

Unless he puts handcuffs on every politician he is doing me know favors.

No immigrant has ever stolen from me.

Yes, the world began the day I was born.

Ghost, you must not have children. I worry less about "immigrants" and more about invasion. Don't think it won't happen. We rolled out the red carpet. I live in a border state. I know people who patrol it. They are told to stand down. They are coming. They drop their issl crap and jihadi stuff in the desert. People crossing that open border are not all friendly. My state tried to enforce the law, and our dear leader sued us. I don't know what to tell my children. We are giving away the farm. Against our will.

Lots of people have campaigned as 'outsiders', but we've never needed an outsider more than we need one now.

Trump's success is based on 1) the zeitgeist; 2) his cojones---he's an adult; 3) his candor; 4) his lack of fear of the left; 5) his unembarrassed and patriotic enthusiasm for America; 6) his obvious track record of accomplishment; 7) his middle-of-the-raod politics that appeal Dems as well as Reps; 8) the fact that people have watched him on TV, informally, and kind of know what he's like already.

Trump may be imperfect, but---at his worst---I can't conceive of him ever approaching, or even wanting to approach, the level of cold, nihilistic, arrogant, punishing hatred for Americans displayed by Obama. Comparatively speaking, Trump will do fine. And he may even be the answer to our prayers. God has a great sense of humor.

Carreer politicians had their chance. They blew it. Every last one of them is terrified of losing the ILLEGAL vote! Can you believe it?

How can Donald Trump do any worse than those chumps? I think he will be a lot better than the usual pols, just like Reagan was.

Leslie, whether you like or not the criminals the enablers have chosen are slowly turning this place into a 3rd world dump with all the appointments that come with it. The popular solution to this is to choose some other criminals cause the current ones aren't working. Nor were the last ones and the ones before them, etc.

You can run down there and try to scare people away as they cross imaginary lines on a map, or you can shoot criminals in the face that try to cross your personal line in the sand. In the end, and that end is coming sooner than you may think, you'll be waist deep in the latter.

I choose to see the future now, and get a jump on the thundering crowd.

Our only child, a son, is 36, married, and he and his wife gave us our first grandbaby last year.

I absolutely agree with you about our leaders. But, we do not live in a vacuum. The bleeding must be stopped while we clean house. Our election process is broken, so, it needs to grind its gears. At least a fence would slow the flow until we can get our houses in order. Right now, it is still illegal to just shoot someone in the face. At least for us commoners. I said it would get uglier. I put zero faith in our election process. Something has got to give.

So what will President Trump do about Congress?
