USS Gabrielle Giffords Christened As First Gun-Free Warship

I remember when they made the F4 Phantom II guns free. They said fighter planes didn't need them anymore and that missiles were the future. They changed their mind later, after the kill ratio of 10/1 American pilots had in Korea dropped to 1/1 in Vietnam.
The Navy honors Giffords by making the kind of decision that someone who had taken a bullet to the head would make not by being guns free.

UPDATE: Since this story first appeared, the Giffords has reportedly been hijacked at gunpoint from its pier at Austal USA’s shipyard.
The City of Mobile Police Department is asking anybody with information about the theft to contact the department’s Crime Stoppers line at 251-555-7000.

It worked.
Don't care for the vertical fore handle (doesn't feel comfortable) but she's on the right track in that pik.
She should have been equipped similarly on that fateful day.
