Trigger Warning: College Kids Are Human Veal

aweepy.jpg

But really, what the fuck is wrong with kids these days and, more important, the supposed adults who look after them?
They act as if they are raising human veal that cannot even stand on their own legs or face the sunlight without having their eyeballs burned out and their hearts broken by a single deep breath or uncomfortable moment. I’m just waiting for stories of college deans carrying students from class to class on their backs. - The Daily Beast [HT: Fat Man]

Your Say

Seems there's two kinds of college kids these days: ones that get a good hard punch in the face and the others that are in line waiting to get punched.

For a number of people in my age group (I'm sixty-eight so figure maybe fifty-five to seventy-five) all we needed was a kick in the ass, or hitting the brick wall, or the metaphoric punch in the face to serve as a wakeup call.
For example: get fired from a job, get tossed out of an apartment for back rent, get drafted and get shot at, do thirty days for drunk & disorderly. Something that brought reality right up in our face.
We'd learn that there ain't no such thing as a free lunch, that if you don't work you don't eat, lessons so obvious that chimpanzees learn 'em.

I guess college kids these days don't learn jack shit except how to cringe in a "safe place". Safe place? Really, safe? Like from what? Life?
