No, it isn’t “time for a woman to be president.” It’s time for a competent adult of either gender to be president.

She can’t even play the character of someone fresh and exciting.
She’s Hillary. She’s a tired, old, worn-out retread who makes even the most oblivious and susceptible among us chuckle when she tries to sound sincere. Hundreds of political strategists have spent thousands of hours trying to make her into someone even halfway appealing on even the most superficial of levels, and they’ve failed. The best they could do this time around is have her stand in front of some suburban shrubbery and talk about how she plans to be a “champion for everyday Americans.” Sure, “everyday Americans” who’ve lived in mansions since 1980, have never held a job besides lawyer or politician, and charge colleges a quarter of a million dollars to deliver speeches. Your Say

Hillary Clinton is not qualified in any way to be president, nor does she have the temperament for the job. The only argument for her being president is "she holds policies I like and is a woman" which is just not enough for anyone but really dim-witted women and leftists.

Bill Clinton had the qualifications, but not the temperament. Barack Obama had the temperament but not the qualifications. John McCain had the qualifications, but not the temperament. Romney had both, but not the magic third ingredient: the media and cultural movement.

Because ultimately, people vote for the most culturally relevant and trendy candidate. The guy that fits the national mood. Is that Hillary? I can't see it, honestly. In 2008 I feared it would be Obama, but given history he had no chance. He broke the historical pattern and won on cultural movement.

Chris, I doubt anyone is fit to be President. While as you say some have the temperament or qualifications, by the time they win the primary, they have been bought, branded and then sold to a consortia of Big Business, Hack bosses and trapped in so many lies that the best thing done with them is take them out back and shoot them.

They may not have started out corrupt but that purity lasted as long as the first fund raising dinner.

If you can find some Horiatio to the defend the purity of the position, he'll be tossed off that bridge in a heartbeat. Too much money is at stake.

In a Democracy people get the kind of government they deserve.

Two wolves
One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people. He said, "My son, the battle is between two wolves inside us all.

One is Evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.

The other is Good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith."

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: "Which wolf wins?"

The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed."

Chasmatic is right. I used to think the Nightmare Monster World we live in was imposed upon us by outside forces. But the truth is that the world we live in is the world most people want. One cannot blame the wicked Prince of this world for giving the people what they want.

The type of government we have does not matter. Dictatorship, Monarchy, Republic, or Democracy, the rule is the same: Good People, Good Government; Bad People, Bad Government. This is why I have to laugh when I hear people talking about how "the American People" are going to "wake up" and stop this country from going to hell. The American People are not going to solve the problem; the American People are the problem.

People forget that the vicious, murderous Communist government of Republican Spain was put into power by a fair and free vote by the Spanish People. Thank God that Franco and his compatriots were there, and that they did not give a damn what the Spanish People wanted. If not for their willingness to defy the sovereign Will of the People Spain would have been turned into a Stalinist nightmare. Vivemos mejor con Franco.

By the way, people do not have gender. Gender is a grammatical term, and does not apply to organisms. Humans are sexual, not gendered.

And where is Sarah Palin? If we "need" a female in the White House why not get one that has some brow and some courage?

Jan Brewer would be OK too.

I say "Bringer her on!", the sooner the better. Or would you rather wait even longer for the inevitable that looms? I mean, you do realize this can't be fixed, right? The only thing to be done is to crash, burn, and start anew, maybe with some sense of decency the next time.
