California supplies a staggering percentage of the nation’s fresh vegetables and fruits;

it’s among the most efficient producers in the world of beef, dairy, and staple crops.
One can purchase an iPhone 6 or a neat new Apple watch, but he still must eat old-fashioned, pre-tech food. There are no calories in Facebook, and even Google can’t supply protein. On the other hand, I can live without an iPad. Who is to say which industry is essential and which isn’t? Insulin and antibiotic production constitute a micro-percentage of GDP, but is their water usage less important than Twitter’s? Is a biologist who studies bait-fish populations in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta really more important than a master tractor driver whose skill gives broccoli to thousands? Your Say

800 miles of waterline, 4 years to prepare, nothing but monumental retardation is the cause of their water bankruptcy. fukemded

California's problem is the environazis. They listened to them; they saved some small fish at the expense of the water reservoirs. Now they must pay for their foibles.

When Ideology is God and the latest trend becomes the Bible du Jour, good ole Moonbeam is on deck, spinning the helm like a fat woman on Wheel of Fortune. It keeps coming up 'Bankrupt". No wonder, he threw the binnacle over the side back in '75.

If you vote for something long enough, you'll get it!

V. Woodchuck:

The Central Valley relies on water stored in the Sierra Nevada snowpack to the east, which pretty much all flows into the east San Francisco bay. Water fills reservoirs long before it flows out from them to that silly fish.

What the environazis accomplished was turning off the water to the farms to the south. You know, where the food is grown.

So, the drought truly is the result of lack of snow or rain. But, even with full reservoirsl, not much of it would go to the farmers.

That battle has been going on for more than 10 years. It isn't just about Gov. Moonbeam.

California is NOT efficient at these things. California dairies receive higher price supports than Midwest dairies such as Wisconsin or Minnesota. Much of their vegetable production can be replaced by Midwest and great lake farmers. It is only large subsidies that have kept California in the farm business. Beside, the agenda 21 environazies want to vacate the west and turn it into dacha country for the elite pricks like Ted Turner and the elite NY money Nazis that hang out in Wyoming or Colorado.

It is not every state that has a whole ocean next to them. Salt water can replace some of the fresh water in the system. Let the Mojados have it. Send it to Watts. Use it to put out fires. Swimming pools love it. Cars washed in salt water shine special.
