Word.

Mainstream conservativism is more obsessed with fighting petty political battles than with looking for a means of rebuilding society. Dean Abbott (@DeanAbbott) | Twitter

Your Say

Societies build themselves, one person at a time.
Attempting to *rebuild* one will result in disaster.

To "rebuild" society is a founding principal of K. Marx and F. Engels. And it may be exactly what the current upper crust of the GOP is intending to do.

To me "conservatism" has lost its appeal due to the destruction of what the term originally stood for.

"15He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

16But whereunto shall I liken this generation? It is like unto children sitting in the markets, and calling unto their fellows, 17And saying, We have piped unto you, and ye have not danced; we have mourned unto you, and ye have not lamented. "

@ Terry The current GOP leadership is hanging on until they can get out without blame.

Look at the Nat Debt and the deficit. That has the smoke trail of a death ride into hell. Anything that will undo what they (both Parties) have voted for over the years will result in riots, bankruptcies, and privation on a scale making the Great Depression look like a weekend at Disney World.

The rest of the "civilized" countries are no better off than we are. We'll have company in Hell.

When it gets right down to it, it's all about the money, innit?

All the major world players have the same lousy economy that we do. Thing is, they spend it on ordnance, missiles, hackers, and we spend it on illegal aliens.

"Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned.
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity." Yeats

I agree. We're past the point of politics fixing anything, even if it ever could. We need to look at rebuilding and influencing culture. There's no amount or type of politician at the top that can fix government.
