Not so long ago the peerless intellectuals of the West

accepted the victory of the Cold War and the union of Europe with a kind of resentful churlishness; a legacy from the imbecile Ronald Reagan who came into a strategic fortune through sheer good luck. He did not deserve it. They even rewrote history to make it appear that the European project really won the peace. But now they know the truth. They won nothing and threw away everything. Your Say

"... imbecile Ronald Reagan ..."

Unacceptable.

Fernandez needs a good hard punch in the face.

You completely fail to understand what Fernandez was communicating, Chas. Read it again for the first time or I'll take away your ammo.

james, I do understand what Fernandez is saying and I agree with him. I have been advocating a strong response to the various atrocities and the Muslims behind them all, example given:

"... Instead of cowering and hoping that it won't happen near us we should be fire-bombing Baghdad and other concentrations of Muslim terrorists. Can't find 'em? Enlarge the target area ..."

I just didn't appreciate him disrespecting Reagan that way.

Fernandez is relaying that leftoids had Reagan marked down as an imbecile, proof in their own vapid minds that he could not be responsible for his own success.

"peerless intellectuals" was the giveaway.

Oops, I missed the subtle sarcasm. Erudition is not one of my strengths.

Thanks guys, keep me on the rails. Well, mostly. Sometimes I get to drifting.

Don't worry about the driftin'. Just hoist more sail and kick in hard right rudder.

One of the best tings about not knowing where you're going is getting to see new things, meet new people, decide if you like them and then shoot the ones you don't.

"Every normal man must be tempted, at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats." ~ H.L. Mencken

Don't worry about old age. It doesn't last that long! That's a feature.

Integrity?
yeah
Humility?
Yeah
Honesty?
that too.
Oh, and funny. It's why I love this place.
Not bad for a bunch of crusty ol' bastards

VW: One good thing about being sixty-eight years old and half dying of cancer — I am prepared to die for my beliefs.

Back some years ago, I was making photos for the paper of an Alzheimer facility. Tough assignment since I couldn't show faces unless I had releases from families.

Anyway, they place handed out ice cream to the patients. One darling grandmotherly type came up complaining she didn't get any. Obviously she did; it was all over her mouth. Whether she didn't remember she had some or she just wanted more, I don't know but the workers there refused her.

She was so upset she began to cry. I asked if I could have some, they gave me a paper cup full which I gave to her.

Needless to say, that pissed off the worker and the manager. That's when I blew up. That was 35¢ worth of ice cream, given to someone close to 92 years old.

They jumped up and down about diet and health of the patients; that's when I tossed the money on the counter and told them to STFU. If that ice cream was going to kill her, at 92 she could go happy.

When it's my turn, I'm going out into the woods where no one from the gummint can find me and die in peace.
