My uncle Louie Lozko, who answers to the name "Letsgo Lozko" raised bantam chickens.
He was a charter member of the Blue Island Chicken Watchers Club", in the south end of Chicago.
He and his polka pals would get a box of beer and watch them chickens for hours. Um, in warm weather. In the Winter they'd go inside the house and play euchre. He boasted that no binoculars were needed, nor sturdy shoes and caps. Just a church key and some ciggies. Once and a while to liven up the occasion they'd let a chicken out of the coop. If the dog was around they had plenty to watch as the chicken tried to gain sanctuary up on the roof of the tractor shed.
"Ve laff and laff, fartin'und spillin' beer und maybe dat chicken she don't come down off roof until dark".

As for the roosters, those little sumbitches are the living descendants of velociraptors. I wouldn't be messing with 'em. One of his dogs lost an eye to one. Called him Popeye from then on.
