Friedman's parsing is pathetically stupid and besides the point of the threat.
ISIS is simply doing what the Koran [and therefore, Allah] commands. Enslavement, rape, maimings, beheadings, are all commanded to be done to unbelievers of orthodox Islam, as specified in Koran, Sira, and Hadith, and implemented via Sharia.
These atrocities, we would say, are examples of the behavior of Mohammad, the Perfect Muslim, to be emulated by true Muslims for all time.
