Organic Food and Vegetarianism:

cabbage.jpg

The dietary restrictions imposed upon the followers of liberalism signify the rise of a new gnosticism.
Liberals feel guilty because of their human status. They desire to flee the filth of the world. “Why did I burn those backyard leaves and cause climate change? How can I have a barbecue with tofu? Obama, help me, please.” Liberals want to be purified and free from their guilt, especially the guilt associated with eating meat. The goal for some liberals, like medieval ascetics, is to live off only cabbages that have been certified to have died a natural death.

Your Say

Liberals could purify this planet by making the great pilgrimage up any active volcano, making obeisance to Gaia, and fling themselves into that fiery cauldron.

The Universe would rejoice.

What a LIEberals does is of little interest to me.

What a LIEberal expects me to do causes me to want to end it's life.

See the diff?

"How can I have a barbecue with tofu?"
Been there, as an experiment for a veggie.
Tofu shrinks about 80% on the Barbie.
The "finished" product is an OK vehicle for (fill in the blank) sauce. I STILL prefer meat or fish.
Better start with a fairly big piece,say....4x4x1.5, lest it fall through the grill.

"You are what you eat" applies here. In the wild, animals that are vegetarian are called "prey".
There are a lot of people out there that would benefit from a knuckle sandwich.

Burning leaves is carbon neutral.

Zach - no it isn't. Stinks like hell. If that's not climate change, nothing is. If you were old enough ever to have gotten caught downwind of a pile of burning leaves you would know that.

Bill H: no it isn't.

The carbon in tree leaves was removed from the atmosphere by the tree. Burning the leaves merely returns to the original carbon to the atmosphere.

However, it does cause ordinary pollution, especially particulates.

With all the air traffic commercial and governmental, all the freight trains running, all the semis hauling goods, all the vehicles private and commercial, we are debating whether burning leaves is carbon-neutral?

When you have reduced you level of existence to Luddite: no vehicle, no goods handled by vehicles other than horse drawn, no leather, no iPhone, no computer, no electricity in or near your abode, ah, OK, got the point? When you have attained that pristine no-carbon way of life, come talk to me, tell me how it is working out for you.

My uncle Letsgo Lozko wrote a book "How I Learned to Live Life Without Burning Leaves." It didn't sell very well.

It was in the original post.

Why would you do that? It will require new technology and significant industrial effort to revamp the global energy system. In addition, many people in the developing world have as much right to the benefits of modernity as people in the developed world. Strong economic growth during the transition is essential.

"Organic" is the Latin word for "Grown in Pigshit".
