One evening on Oasis, I joined a dozen other passengers at the ship’s Chef’s Table, in a private dining room on Deck 12.

Our first course was constructed from lobster medallions, cauliflower panna cotta, paddlefish caviar,
micro-lettuce leaves, shaved beetroot, and Parmesan tuiles, all floating or semi-submerged in a cucumber-basil Martini and served in a Martini glass. (Kanvinde made a modified version, with boneless chicken breast, for a guest from Arkansas who had a shellfish allergy.) That course was followed by three soups served in small teacups, and Kanvinde explained that a key to preparing one of them—a “lemon-scented pea soup with Alaskan crab-leg meat”—was to grate just the very outermost layer of the lemon peel for the zest that provided the first note in its aroma.

Your Say

Gay food for a gay dude.

Disgusting. I'll stick with fried chicken and pork chops.

Meat, potatoes, done. most food is merely fuel.

Spam, Cheez Whiz, Campbell soups, here is a place I get recipes from:

The 220,000 tons of fun, is that the passengers after stuffing their gulletts with all that shit?

The rest of the time was spent in the stateroom sicker than hell from some shipboard illness.

Also consider how many Muslims and blacks work pnboard messing with your food, doing who knows what to it.

I feel sorry for anyone who has to get their jollies from food. My kind uses food for energy to get our jollies in more athletic ways.

Zesting a lemon is actually pretty easy and gives amazing flavor. Cooking doesn't have to be twee and ridiculous like this stuff, but the core of what they cooked here is pretty solid. Chefs just feel the need to be (or seem) unique and do something different from others.

And the more people like Vermont Woodchuck post here the less I want to even read this blog.

How darling! Midget-sized portions of gay entrees!

I would eat this stuff, and then go the ship's main buffet for the real feast, where I'd hope to find plenty of "Elvis Food."

But then, I wouldn't be on this cruise at all, as I'd dare not bend over the buffet tables.

What is it Christopher about reality that upsets you? Just who in hell do you think work those cruise ships, Emeril Lagasse's family?

Do you remember Jesse Jackson's statement about spitting in the salads of the white folks. Yeah, thought so.

Lobster "medallions"?
Really?
Bare hands, butter, and a bucket thank you.

Though the food portions might have been miniscule that is not what would have irritated me the most. Its the ceremony behavior that would have galled me to no end, prompting me to do what DonRodrigo said - head for where the real food is.

Grilled 24oz porterhouse, baked potato, salad, sweet tea
The ultimate meal.

"... And the more people like Vermont Woodchuck post here the less I want to even read this blog ..."

Chris: where is that coming from? As long as you're naming names why don't you give us a list of "people like Vermont Woodchuck" that post here?

Maybe we can all get together and address our comments to you personally.
