today could be linked to terrorism. Suspect Zale Thompson, 32, pictured in surveillance footage, was shot dead on the scene after slashing one cop in the arm and the other in the head at around without warning about 2pm. The officer struck in the head was critically injured.

Maybe a hatchet rather than a knife is the thing to bring to a gunfight.
What kind of training did/do these cops get? Hatchets don't readily conceal.

VW: cops are so hindered by rules and regs concerning violent encounters, some of them would shoot too often, cowboys; some of them hesitate and shoot not often enough, losers.
Wait 'til we see the fallout from this one. Just like Ferguson, exuberant People of Color protesting, looting; the cops on the street, their leaders won't back them up.

Anyone running around with a raised hatchet isn't collecting for the Salvation Army.
Perhaps the entire police force should get the blue flu for a month. Then the people can tell the Mayor what they think of his ideas for civil rights for the malefactors. Let the white shirts and Sergeants patrol; they can tell the mobs whose side they're on.
