The words matter more than reality to most people. This is why The Left was ruthless and persistent in changing education from teaching things to teaching you how to learn things. Now that many people are content-free, there is little or no history in their memory, no science in their mind, no skill in their behavior, people make judgments from what people tell them about things. Republicans vote for the guy that seems least likely to raise his voice at dinner and Democrats vote for the guy most likely to punish their enemies, because that is what both groups feel comfortable doing. Telling facts to these people doesn't work, and won't work. Each fact simply makes both sides double-down on their content-free habits while hating those that point out how little facts others know.
