The only approach to education that works
What you're looking at is the culmination of Drill, Drill, Drill -- Test. To be more specific, you're looking at the test. Like duck's feet on the pond, the drill, drill, drill happened in the rehearsal room where it belongs. When drill was done, they were ready for the test.

Does this mean as in Common Core that two plus two equals 5, is a correct answer if the child somewhat understands the principal of the arithmetic? Imbecile in . . . imbecile out.

Public schools haven't been about education for at least 30 years and the downward spiral started long before that.
Right about the same time the ridiculous women's lib thing became stylish almost overnight public schools became theft funded daycare centers that set about converting all participants into lifelong children and *liberating* the mothers from their charges forever more.
Intelligent parents are finding solutions while most of the herd keeps grazing on unicorn fodder.
