"Flat top with fenders"
Posted by: South of 5 and 20 at June 30, 2014 7:00 PM
All through grade school used to have a flat top, used butch wax that came in a stick like deodorant.
It would always melt during recess on hot days, little country school playground was dusty as hell so the dirt would stick to the melted wax running down my sweaty forehead, lol.
Good times!

This is when kids got hip to the concept of "good hair" - it wasn't only for black folks.
Some guys had that good thick hair that would look good in a flattop with fenders, or in short haircuts in general. The rest of us looked like geeks, and like Moe sez, the butch wax just made it worse, esp on hot days.

I tried it a buncha ways, all looked goofy so I settled for a crew cut. Heck, even a flat top looked bad on me. When I went through Fort Polk we all looked the same coming outa the chute. The Black guys were especially upset. Not being there, just losing their 'dos.

Wait? Needs careful combing? AND special goop?
Yep. Too long, and too much maintenance, for me!
#2 shield on clippers is my "speed" these days. Admittedly, back in 70's-90's,I was getting regular trim, while my hair did not.

Rob: back in the day a good haircut and an accordion were all you needed to score with chicks.

You can have her, I don't want her;
She's too fat for me.

Rob: My uncle Letsgo Lozko told me: They all look the same in the dark".
He never trusted a woman that couldn't make kapusta. He raised bantam chickens and drank Blatz Beer.
