It's "Genetic"

Your Say

Morbid obesity. I reckon any taxpayers we still have are paying for this dysfunctional unit. The only redeeming aspect is that this wretched person will die soon. Not that I wish it, jes' sayin'.

I don't think it is fair to single out persons of weight. They are no more to blame for their condition than queers. They can't help it, it is in their genetical composition. It would be like expecting a dog to fly.

If the Koch Brothers have any money left after funding Boko they can use it to facilitate these persons of size. Building plans will need to accommodate them. Airlines must offer seating to them; Special challenged parking places and electric carts must be provided so these folks can live a normal life among their fellow citizens. It is the least we can do.

Yes, there is no doubt a gene for Overactive Fork just as there is one for Restless Crotch Syndrome.

It is genetic. A normal weight person couldn't become morbidly obese no matter how hard they tried and it is equally difficult for a morbidly obese person to become thin. Your genes determine your weight range. Within that range your free to make dietary choices that will put you at the low or high end but that is all you can do.

So, the morbidly obese violate the first law of thermodynamics. At least they got that going for them.

You couldn't tip her over using a 2X4 lever.

The number 1 dietary rule, which I follow very successfully: "Do not drink calories."

My entire beverage repertoire consists of:

Coffee, no sugar
Unsweet iced tea
Exactly one saccharine-sweetened soft drink per day
Water

That's it.

Sorry, I have to push back at least a little on this one. The woman in question quite possibly has metabolic syndrome. If so, she DID get obese as a result of a genetic predisposition; the "thrifty gene" that encourages over-eating of carbs; over-active hunger; and then efficient conversion of those carbs straight to fat. In that case, the cause of her obesity is over-eating of sugar/carbs, and the effect is also that she will feel hungry all the time and specifically crave carbs. The same genetic make-up is part of the type II diabetes spectrum. Read Gary Taubes for excellent discussions of the science behind this and the low-fat/high carb food-pyramid disaster.
In my case, I was thin and muscular and athletic well into my thirties. Always had a particular craving for bread and pasta but never gave it a second thought because I've always been a healthy eater and looked great. Gradually the combination of pregnancies and middle-age led to weight gain. Now I'm 40 lbs overweight, and it's all about the carbs. When I cut out starch and sugar (although I've never been one to sit about eating bon-bons and drinking Mt. Dew) the weight comes off and I look and feel like my old self. The bitch is keeping up that strict regimen, day in, day out, for evah and evah. Not whining; just acknowledging how hard it is and not judging as much as I used to.

I drink only water, and sometimes it's hot with instant coffee, cream, and sugar in it. Haven't had a soft drink in years and have no desire to. I'm low maintenance.

Sorry fatties, calories count period. 3,500 calories yield 1 pound. Simple rule of thumb, 200 pound person eats 2,000 calories a day. 600 pound person eats 6,000 calories per day. Simple science, (and it is settled) do the math. Oh by the way who is paying for all those calories? Not the morbidly obese as they can't work. Who is getting their their food? There is always an enabler making the food runs. Who is paying their health care? Yeah another victim class.

I've noticed that whenever I see an obese person in a car, about 85% of the time they are gobbling down some crap I wouldn't touch, and/or suckin' down a big gulp of corn syrup laden liquid. Oh yeah, for some reason they are predisposed to drive a car entirely too small for their bulk. It would be funny were it not so pathetic, and it is completely avoidable.

There is no acceptable defense or rationalization for morbidly obese people.

My uncle Louie Lozko (we called him "Letsgo Lozko") worked for the Chicago mob during Prohibition, delivering hootch to various speakeasies. They didn't put up with fat people back then.

Who William Howard Taft? Diamond Jim Brady? To be fat in that day you needed to be rich. Now you need to be poor.
