But underneath the disdain, the old lofty confidence seems gone.
Even the NYT is worried about its future. It is no longer assured and the inmates of Prince Prospero’s castle are starting to wonder, who that masqued man rushing through the ball might be? About whether they were wrong about something basic since nothing works and what does work — like people grubbing for oil — wasn’t supposed to.

No matter how spectacular is Obama's failure, the commielibs will put any and all blame on Obama and none of it on their ideas. They have ignored every failure and they advance those ideas with as much passion as ever. "There were peculiar circumstances..." or "Obama's personality made it impossible for him to ..." "Now, let's raise the minimum-wage to $15, elect a Muslim Brotherhood House and Senate, and take from each according to his means and give to each according to his needs."

I agree, except they will blame it on the hapless Republicans, or White Privilege - on anything other than Obama.

Scott M gets it. Obama may eventually become a scapegoat to many people whose ideas he has been advancing. He already is in some far-lefty corners.

But, irony alert, some of those crazy leftists have woken up to the fact that Obama is the biggest champion of crony capitalism ever, and a lapdog of the very rich. What a dizzyingly bizarre time we live in.
