Reasons Why San Francisco Is the Worst Place Ever

The existential crisis around San Francisco's ascension to the heights of assholery
stands in stark contrast to the fact that it is damn near unlivable for most normal people. The end is nigh for a city that used to be a magnet for the counter-culture. San Francisco was strangled, so we decided to go over the numerous causes of death. | VICE United States

Your Say

Shorter version: the people.

Of all the cities I will never consider living in, the Bay Area is right up there with Reno.

"The end is nigh for a city that used to be a magnet for the counter-culture."

Well, there you go. Generally speaking, the traditional culture is that which fosters life and growth. Doesn't it follow that the counter-culture will do the opposite? Everything they stand for - hedonism in all its forms, without "consequences" (such as unplanned and burdensome children) - is in opposition to life.

Julie, you've got it.

From Vice: "San Francisco used to be that place you moved to if you were too weird for LA, but too lazy for New York. It was a perfect city to ply your trade as a quirky motherfucker with a penchant for “edgy performance art” and whimsical scarves. That was just dandy. We liked that."

That would be reason Number 1.

The City is lost, irretrievable.
The majority hate themselves and everyone else; the rest are waiting to die or waiting for the fall to pick up the scraps.

If VICE is unhappy about the high cost of living (high rents, high real estate prices, etc) then they should NOT blame rich techies. They should blame the white liberals who enacted all the laws and regulations that drove up those prices. Without all those insane laws no influx of rich people would price out the working and middle classes, because developers would simply build more housing.

Fact is, they priced Negroes out, and it's worth it to them. Portland's progressive use a combination of ingenious methods to stay white and save the earth at the same time.

I find this post and thread intriguing. The only people I know in S. Francisco that I communicate with are young musicians, especially women. I hear little of what you describe, but then I never ask them about such things.

I'll try to see what they have to say about their city, and whether they see what you see.

Anton LaVey and the Folsom Street Fair. That sums it up for me.

Even Californians have chosen "flight" in facing
the wave of flesh eating parasites. Apparently, those who weren't infected yet went to Texas, but those who are "carriers", the day walkers and runners, went over the hill to to Colorado.
Failure to comprehend "Herd immunization".
