American Digest: Executive Summary [Pinned]

a_georg_christoph_lichtenberg.jpg

“I ceased in the year 1764 to believe that one can convince one’s opponents with arguments printed in books. It is not to do that, therefore, that I have taken up my pen, but merely so as to annoy them, and to bestow strength and courage on those on our own side, and to make it known to the others that they have not convinced us.” ~~ Georg Christoph Lichtenberg, The Waste Books, Notebook E , 1775-76

Your Say

Explain then one Thomas Paine, who changed the opinion of a nation over the duration of Adam's horseback journey from Boston to Philadelphia in the spring of 1776.

Tom also had a change of mind concerning the French Revolution...apparently it wasn't worth losing his head over.

Yes, we were remarkably Blessed to have the caliber of men and shared morals that we did. A rare historical occurrence, we ought to work hard to keep it. As the French so ably showed just a few years later, it just as likely that passing through the chaos and bloodshed of a revolution, the new king is likely to be as bad or worse than the old one.

Washington, as the Saxon-Anglo King George put it, "[was} the greatest man in the history of the world"

Unfortunately, Washington's greatness, and that of his fellow revolutionaries, is appreciated less and less by the great mass of public-educated Americans. In this age of PC-dominated ignorance, only his human failings, such as his ownership of other men, are deemed worthy of study. His brilliance as a commander, and his astuteness as a far-sighted statesman, are denigrated, or, at best, ignored.

Oh yeah! Know exactly what he means....as I'm in a major annoyance campaign right now....It's my job!

I may use this quote soon on my sidebar. Thanks Gerard.

@waltj> Change ". . . the great mass of public-educated Americans" to: "the great mass of leftist government indoctrinated Americans" and I believe you are 100% on.

Arguments printed in books? Kinda' assumes literacy, study of history, or willingness to "learn" independently doesn't it?
*sigh* Simply plagiarize in ad-libs swap-out-key-words fashion, protectively attribute to the unread "heros" of the idiots, and assure negative reinforcement for failure to "comply".
Use a mocking voice, with upturned enunciation at the end of EVERY sentence. Dupes don't want to learn, they want to be TOLD the answer.

"publicly programmed with stolen money"

Posted by: ghostsniper at April 26, 2014 2:46 PM

A valid mission. With enough American Disgests, the minority opinion might become the "narrative." A course to be much desired.

Tom Paine did not change public opinion in America, he galvanized it. Paine never changed a mind in his life.

But wouldn't you know it, as soon as Georg penned his thought two exceptions hit him from behind.

Madison and Hamilton's Federalist won over the public vote for the ratification of the Constitution. Book is still out on that.

Edmund Burke single-handedly reversed British public and intellectual sentiment on the French Revolution by writing Reflections on the Revolution in France. He also destroyed Paine in their mano-a-mano fight for the high ground on that dreadful affair.

It is doubtful our madcap democracies would pay any attention to a man of that quality. So yes, what Georg said.

Forget about changing minds--that doesn't happen. Create doubt instead. Do it thoughtfully and gently, as you would with a child, and always with respect. Insults and bluster work against you. Do not offend.

Use their own strategies against them. As you may have noticed, they work real good for the commies so why not for us?

Tactics of the Left
Saul Alinsky's Rules for Radicals

Power is not only what you have, but what the enemy thinks you have

Never go outside the experience of your people.

Whenever possible, go outside the experience of the enemy.

Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules.

Ridicule is man's most potent weapon

A good tactic is one your people enjoy.

A tactic that drags on for too long becomes a drag.

Use different tactics and actions and use all events of the period.

The threat is more terrifying than the thing itself.

Maintain a constant pressure upon the opposition.

If you push a negative hard and deep enough, it will break through into its counterside.

The price of a successful attack is a constructive alternative.

Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, polarize it.
