Well... as long as she's tidy.

Woman hides in man's closet for a year : Police were investigating how she managed to go in and out of the house unnoticed, as well as details of her life inside the closet, and if she had taken anything else besides food. She had moved a mattress into the small closet space and apparently even took showers, Itakura said, calling the woman ‘neat and clean.’

Your Say

If the resident worked outside of the home it is unlikely she *lived* in the closet. She spent most of the residents *away* time outside the closet.

Weekends? Did he ever clean the closet? Never a cough, sneeze, fart? WTF?

I'm just trying to figure out how in Japan a closet exists big enough for a human being to fit into, let alone get a mattress in with her.

Like everything else, Japanese mattresses are much smaller.

Story was from 2008, the name of the homeless woman was Tatsuko Horikawa.
What interested me was the question of what happened to her afterwards. Did she find a place to stay, did she go to jail? In America I'd expect to hear that people come forward to help her get a job, offer her shelter or public housing.

I am disappointed to report I could find nothing more about her. A man in Wales was inspired to make a movie with a storyline similar to hers. Many websites seem to think that this event is very comical. No one seems to care about the person. Jesus wept.
