Back where I come from we call it "cognitive dissonance". It leads to cerebral vapor lock, open-mouthed gaping; just like turkeys that look up when it is raining, often drowning themselves. Of course, turkeys have a brain the size of a pea. Oh ... wait... yeah, same thing.
